Uau!
i didn't expect that amount of negative nrg around... but i see also a lot of nice impressions
For me in the end was good, of course there's things that were taken some nrg out, as the 2 follows:
-22hr non stop music, i mean i do love psytrance but that's way to much, it's the 3rd day i arrived and i hadn't listen nothing electronic @ home.
-Sanity is very important for a festival that lasts a week, so i reckon a big fault of worry in the toilettes.
I'm still under the effects of the f**** bacteria, during the festival ruined my plans to see Laughin' Buddha, Dj Regan, Behing Blue Eyes (specially this one), dj martin, Big wigs, swarup, error corrective, tetrameth and burn in noise... so a big pity.
But i got the 4 dancing days before the creature trapped me, some good meals i ate there (specially the portuguese & mexican) and nice people i chat.
Thanx all involved.

all these negative comments .....sorry but I had a great time , place was beautiful , weather was great , people were friendly , didn't see any violence or people too out of control , spent alot of the party lying on my lilo in the lake giggling my ass off and having a great old time. But i took the bus , which I caught there and back straight from the airport and straight into the festival site by the ticket booth and the longest queue I had was just over an hour to get my ticket(arm band) at the gate ;0)
Fav acts would definitely be Star sound orcchestra, Peaking Goddess , Tristan , Kristian , Menog and Far too Loud
There were soo many things to see and do I was truely amazed at the amount of effort and love had gone into it , but I suppose you will always get the people who arent happy.

I am completely amazed with a lot of the negative comments here. I mean, I understand some of them but others are totally ridiculous.
People 1st started to complain about the tickets issue, and the fact that Boom had to close its doors due to having reached its full capacity. Let me just remind that everyone had the chance to buy the tickets way in advance, and at a better price.
Then it was the dust, forgeting that Boom happens in one of the hottest regions of Europe.
Then Boom had to much people and queues for everything. For me being surrounded by so many people from all around the world is one of the best things in the festival. And what's the problem of waiting 3 or 4 min in a queue for buying beer or water? Where you in a hurry to go somewhere? And how do you suggest they improve the way people get in? By helicopter? Or do want them to build a new road in, maybe a highway, with service areas and all? By knowing all the trouble that may happen during the entrance, they open the gates one day earlier before the real start of the festival. It's not the orgs fault that everybody wants to be 1st one in. I arrived tuesday 12th of August during the afternoon and had no queue ahead of me.
Then the deco. No elfs or aliens in the dance floor. "I need colours to enjoy the music". Did you saw everything they built around that area, all the gardens, including the 3 ones at the ends of the dancefloor? Did you notice the dead nature garden? All the instalations they had. The one where you could stand bellow a structure where by pulling the string you could make your own music? All the visionary art work there?
Then the toilets. Boom set up open air toilets (thank god), but for some there was no privacy. They also had the closed ones, but they were also not good enough, despite them being cleaned by the truck twice a day.
Then Boom has become to pricy. Water sold @ € 1 and beer @ € 2. Almost everyday I had watermelon @ € 1 at Organic Pachamama or some name like that, a hot rolled bread with cheese and sausage for € 3, tortilla with salad and bread @ € 5 right in front of the mainfloor. You just had to search.
Then, and this one has won the prize for the most ridiculous of all, the fact that Boom treated people as animals because of the fences with barbed wire. There were two areas with fences, when you crossed from the festival area to the food stalls and when walking to the car park. The fences are there because there were farm animals near the car park and because that area is not property of Boom, but instead private property. It was possible to walk from the Main Floor, to the Chill Out, to the Sacred Fire, to the Camping Area, to the Healing Area, probably a 1 hour walk without seing any fence. But people felt trapped, in one the places where you can fell more free, dancing with a view of that lake and the surrounding mountains that reaches for km's.
I will not discuss the bacteria infection problem that many had, but I remember seing signs forbiding entering the water in some places, and people disrespecting that sign. I entered the water everyday, downhill from the chill out and in the area I camped, facing the Anti-Boom, and neither me or my friends had any problems with infection. I also saw people with no conscience using the lake as a toilet.
Finally, the complaints about the music. This I will not comment since its a more subjective thing. I enjoyed very much the music during the day.
I get a feeling that bellow the alternative look, bellow all the tatoos and dreadlocks, all the counter culture attitude, many here are no different from all the televison consuming middle class of our days. After reading all the comments here I fell very glad to have enjoyed a week far from every confort and distractions I have during the rest of the year. Hope you don't thake it personal. No offence to no one. Maybe you just have to rethink your perspective of things. |

I honestly had the most amazing time there, and can safely say that Boom completely changed my life. I appreciated the diversity of the groovy beach music and I heard some music that I didn't think that I would have been into if I had gone to seek it out on my own accord. For sure we all have some gripes, but I've seen way worse in places.
It was an honor and a privilege to play on that sound system for such a wonderful crowd and it's a story that I hope to share with my grandchildren if that ever happens. I really also enjoyed seeing the diversity of people at the festivals, people from all walks of life dancing together as one. This fest had quite a few things that reminded me of Burningman, and I liked that a lot. The lack of Coca-Cola I found to be kinda cool, and for me the organic sodas were quite refreshing.
A few things that really did bug me were the amount of people driving around at the fest and the speed at which they were driving... I had to dodge a few cars during the night under altered states and it definitely had an affect on my willingness to walk around during that time. I also did catch a bit of the illness but managed to pass it in a day. For sure there were some expensive happenings going on, but in the end it is way less than what I would have spent going to Burningman. It would have be nice to see a bit more UV on the main stage during the night, but overall the lighting didn't really seem too obnoxious.
I found Boom to be an excellent meeting place too. I ran into people that I hadn't seen in several years as well as meeting people that I've only heard or read about. I'll be there 2010 with bells on.

Kahsyyk did play before Jun on Friday night. He wasn't on the lineup printout but he was added after they printed the timeslots.

Would anyone know if the Antix brothers performed on the 2nd night at the Groovy Beach stage?
I stood there and saw two similar guys, black hair (one short, one longer hair), little beardy, performing a liveact with a Mac.
I'm quite sure it had to be them, but nowhere they appeared on the lineup.
Anyone?

yes Kashyyyk played there on friday night before Jun. IMHO he would have better played after Cosmo on the 1st night, cause of his music.
Musically I had a good time by night on the dancefloor from 1am to 5/6 am, otherwise I spent a lot of time in the morning at the groovy beach, it had a marvelous view on the sunrise, and the crowd there was amazing, in a more human size than the DF. I liked it a lot. It offered the opprtunitie to keep on dancing if the DF music doesn't match your taste.
My highest point was on the 2nd night with Parus, Atriohm and Olowampi, the PA was very powerfull this night... thank you guys!!!
The decoration and lights were very poor this year. The concept of a leaf like tent on the DF was great but far way not well exploited with lights and projections (always the same things running all nights long... very boring.)
The visionary gallery was awesome, top notch artists were exposed and the shop offered great materials.
I was glad to choose the boom bus alternativ and run smoothly from the begginning to the end at Utopia without any queue. Well done orgz!
At Utopia the first night was great! unfortunaly no line-up available and we were kinda tired after all we gone trough, but no way to leave the dancefloor this night.
Nights there were freaking cold and wet, but the days were very pleasent.
I think it will be my last Boom, prefering more human festivals, with line-up that fully fits my maniac taste of music (armagedon/ opensource,etc...)
Overall it was some nice vacation with the world wide psychedelic family.
I eard it will be the last edition in Idanha-a-nova. They should move to Brasil.... Someone can confirm?
Love and light to you all who survived, R.I.P for the ones who didn't.

Well here is my 2 cents.
The waiting to get in ahhhhh too long , but worth the wait for it was the best festival i have attended.
The Limal Village was stunning, out of this world especially at night.... oh my.And the theatre stage was funny lost in space ... what visuals
Musically.. well for me. Tristan,Laughing Buddha,Kristian,Menog and First Stone... rocked, proper Trance for the sun
closing ceremony was too good
Putting the queue issues aside and the odd shower fuck up Boom 2008, my first Boom was Perfect..
Gobsmacked to see sooo sooo many great people having fun |

The Boom was again a great festival IMO. I enjoyed very much all the installations, gardens and beautiful decoration which was around. There was plenty of good music, from the Dance Floor, to the Groovy Beach, to the Sacred Fire stage. Also plenty of things to do in the Liminal Village and the Healing Area, as well as a good choice of organic drinks and the fact that the generators were run on recycled sunflower oil, it got my respect. All in all, this is a festival to remember!
I enjoyed very much playing a DJ set following the opening set of Star Sounds Orchestra, I became totally high from the energy, the people and the music So far this has been the set and the public I enjoyed playing for the most!
