my friend Salvia i think your comment is in the right direction and includes an unpleasant reality for me also...My experience throughout the years in big festivals all over the globe tells me that as participants we have to deal with such issues like expensive drinks or foods with any way we can....BOOM belongs to the biggest festivals and could't be an exeption...Somehow the organization has to carry out all costs and give them further to us...It is a fact,a reality...Everywhere is the same and will stay so...We have to get used to it..!!!
P.S my statement yesterday was nothing personal against you
BOOM,see you in the dancefloor... |

I must agree with one point salvia_divinorum mentioned.
Bar prices in boom are equal to nightclubs in portugal!! Which means that or you have money, like 20€ to spend everyday to have fresh drinks or you have to go to idanha and buy warm drinks for all the festival (option for the poorer). Not talking about the really expensive meals...
About the price for the entrance i don´t mind about it, cause is for the people who really like the scene as me and it´s needed a lot of finances for organizing such a village. But elitisms like those mentioned i cannot stand for, especially on a event that the words as "sustainability", "culture for everybody", "oppressing minorities" are used.
But okay, no more talking about money...
Computer games don't affect kids - I mean, if Pacman affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music. :D :D |

If you bring your own food and drinks, the festival can be fairly ok, financial wise...
I actually prefer to cook there with a group of friends and whoever appears, than going to eat at a restaurant/bar.
@salvia
Portugal doesnt have the same level of economic wealth then Switzerland or England but when i read your post it looks like its a miserable country where people live in misery and that i know its not true...still a agree with you that beer/water for 2euros is 50 cents above what should be!!!
Hey, feel free to join us in our community meals...you are very welcomed!!!

I have absolutely no problem with paying a lot of money for an INDEPENDENT festival. Full respect for this. |

Well I thought Boom 06 was good value for money, with respect to food/drink/entry, but then I live in London which is one of the most expensive cities in the world. In the UK, mainstream festivals like Glastonbury are £135 for 3 days. Glade festival, the UKs biggest electronic dance music fest is £120 for 3 days and the music stops at 4am... And a beer will probably cost you at least £3-4 at a UK festy...

of course it's not a miserable country, but for students like me (for example) it's really hard to have money for this kind of stuff, since i don't work..
still i don't complain about the price of the tickets, just the drink/food prices.. and like i said bringing your own drinks it's not an option since it will be at 40ºC as soon as the sun goes up!
i don't care if it's an independent festival or not, and i agree with babube, all that talk about we are one and then water at 2 euros.. it should be 1euro since it's an essential good or maybe free eheh
but well no more talk about money.. i'll definitely stop by at the community kitchen to cook & share something!
When I dance, I put myself in the DJ's hands to take me to a journey - the unconscious journey to reality
KARKEIJA KREW!!!!!!!! dancing is the phrr fo da powa |

independent meaning no sponsoring no advertising besides through these channels (foruns, trance magazines etc), and yes, not related to a particular label. |
