I was just checking out the map for Boom 08 and it looks like there's no camping down by the shoreline of the lake. This is where we camped at Boom 06 and it was fantastic to be able to wake up, jump out of the stifflingly hot tent and 10 seconds later plunge in to cool, crystal clear water. I want to be able to do the same again this time round... Can anyone confirm whether we'll be able to camp by the lake, rather than just up on the hills???

i think this year there will be a lot more people from other countries and a lot less from portugal.. boom is a really expensive festival for the portuguese pockets and it's clearly a festival made for foreigners who have money to spend on ridiculously expensive drinks etc           When I dance, I put myself in the DJ's hands to take me to a journey - the unconscious journey to reality

my friend salvia your point of view is an unjustice excuse of not being part of the BOOM festival this year.I don't think that people like me from the other side of Europe (Greece) who have to pay also a lot of money for the air tickets are in better position than you..only the will to be part of this amazing gathering can be the best reason to save the money you need.Personally i've been saving money since last Septeber....As far as concern the "ridiculously expensive drinks" there is always the option of the personal supplies from outside..so please consider your nationality as an advance and complain about something else than money which is a sensitive matter for the majority of this years participants...

the money issue is very important especially if you don't have it..!!!Everyone has to know better for himself if he can make it to the BOOM or not...That's why there's a presale and enough time for everyone to arrange the whole trip and accomodation..
BOOM brothers and sisters..

the costs r mayb pretty high butt i think its not impossiblle to come, even from countries which their economies r not as developed as western european ones.
i know so many ppl that r coming from different countries that managed to pull it off somehow n im not talking about sweden or germany or switzerland n such
i think this time it will b much bigger then 2006. if 2 judge by my n other members friends here, it will b 3 times bigger
by the map i think this time they even streched the main facilities on a bigger area so they probabley expect more ppl.

last boom festival newsletter :

The world is on steroids. The energy system based on petrol is crashing. Mainstream media and infotainment are blocking people’s vision. Human perception is exposed to up to 3000 corporate marketing messages per day. Food is used as a weapon to oppress minorities. These are real-life dramas that we need to subvert locally for a new global cycle. Are you waiting for 2012 to do the job, perpetuating the idea that the external circumstances dominate the internal dispositions?

Never before has the idea of dominant culture vs our own idea of independent culture been so present while making Boom. Circumstances are pushing the different to get standardized. However, we all do have an advantage: we produce our own meaning. We all make Boom an amplifier for new paradigms with art, culture and nature as the main background. We can sum up our ideas in a sentence we read recently: "When you cut off arterial blood to an organ, the organ dies. When you cut the flow of nature into people's lives, their spirit dies. It is as simple as that".

Boom Venue: The Earth Is The Motto

Boom venue is being filled with an amazing amount of art works. More than 100 people are now on site. The main constructions are made with straw bale and we’ve already made gardens, healing areas, and permacultural systems for treating waste. The main theme for this year is the reconnection with earth, so all the structural projects are being developed by earth-orientated themes.

Organic Drinks For All!

For Boom 2008 we took the decision to offer on the official bars mostly organic drinks provided by alternative brands. Organic drinks are made with ingredients that are grown - or raised - as nature intended, without artificial fertilizers, pesticides or hormones. Bio-drinks have always championed this way over intensive farming because it’s better for you and for the planet. So, if you have any special love for any corporate drink, bring it with you.

We Remind Again: No Pets On Site

No pets are permitted on site. Due to a new legislation we were obliged to cancel the kennel project. Which means that no pets are allowed on site and also that there is no special place for them to be. If you have a dog please remember this: extreme hot; dehydration; extreme noise; and leshmaniosis are just some of the elements that our beloved pets will face on site. Most of us have pets but the conditions of 35º Celsius, thousands of people, dry air and thousands of kilowatts are not suitable for a pet. No pets will be allowed on site. All pets found on site will be placed outside the festival. If you need to find nearby kennels or other help please contact: info@boomfestival.org.
For more information click here.

Tickets: The Last Call

The last phase of Boom ticket pre-sale is right around the corner. You can purchase tickets both on the Internet or through your local Boom Ambassador until July 18th at the price of 135€. There are special conditions for economic developing countries and also for disabled. Macedonians have free entrance – lucky you! At the gates the price is 160€ (quite high compared with the first tickets of 95€). The gates of the Boom 08 will open at 9.00 AM (GMT) on the 11th of August 2008. Please do not come to the gates before this time. Avoid long waiting queues; come to the Boom gates during the day and night of the August 11th.

Boom Goes Virtual In Second Life

Thinking about all the Boomers that have been in sync with the latest developments in the virtual world of Second Life, we’ve launched a Boom Festival venue in Second Life. It is emulating the lake of Idanha-a-Nova and the connection with nature that is the essence of Boom. We have a chill-out, a dance floor, art gallery and many zones for everybody to enjoy. If you’re dwelling in the virtual world, pass over the Boom Festival! You just have to search for the words “Boom Festival” in Second Life.

i was talking in general, of course it's a big effort for everyone but you can't compare england's or switzerland's economy with ours.. there's a reason why so many portuguese people go work abroad, bc one month's salary in switzerland for example it's like 3 months here! i don't know how is it in greece!
i'm going to boom festival as i've been doing since 2002 and i bought the ticket in the first phase and i'm saving money since september too! i go bc it's one of the biggest festivals in the world and it's in my country so i couldn't miss it (i never went to a festival abroad), but really, selling small bottles of water for 2euros it's not normal here in portugal and for me it's really expensive! that's why in other editions you mainly see foreign people eating at the boom restaurant.. it's a bit too expensive for us portuguese.
and about the personal supplies from outside, if you buy water outside and bring it to the festival you won't be able to drink it bc it will get really really hot, and since i don't have a car and will go by bus i can't bring a fridge, so i'm guessing i'll be really thirsty this festival           When I dance, I put myself in the DJ's hands to take me to a journey - the unconscious journey to reality
