A new newsletter have been posted:
"Boom Newsletter 2008 - June
Ok, let?s cut to the chase. You?re about to see the line-ups of three of the major artistic areas of Boom 2008: Dance Floor, Liminal Village and Groovy Beach.
After reading this newsletter you?ll be directed to the Boom website where you?ll find masses of information on artists, presenters, workshops, concerts, to name just a few. Boom doesn?t end here though. The release of the program is a new starting point? for you. Being in Boom is a way of producing meaning. It is a vehicle to share information. It is an opportunity for changing paradigms and for helping to change most accepted truths. Being in Boom is more of an activist behaviour than a mechanicist effect. So, don?t loose yourself in the program, be the program, be the Boom!
A Film Festival in The Liminal Village
The biggest novelty in 2008 in the Liminal Village is the emphasis on cinema. The Paradigms Film Festival brings to Boom a specific event with independent movies and documentaries from all over the world. The Liminal Village is Boom?s cultural hub. The major themes for this year are sustainable futures, conscious evolution and the emerging paradigm. Alongside the above-mentioned cinema, there will be Presentations, Workshops, Permaculture Gardens and an Art Gallery. Some of the invitees are Erik Davis, Robert Venosa, Matt Black, Marc Pesce and Martina Hoffmann.
Check the program here <http://www.boomfestival.org/boom2008/arts_culture/liminalvillage.php> .
Dance Floor Means Diversity
Not being obvious has been a landmark of Boom?s dance floor line up throughout the years. This year won?t be any different. We?ve pieced together DJs and live acts from all sub-genres of psy-trance to showcase diversity and heterogeneity. Big names alongside upcoming artists, the underground music being played together with experienced talents.
More info here <http://www.boomfestival.org/boom2008/arts_culture/dancefloor.php> .
Groovy Beach For An Openmind Boom
This is a new music area in Boom. The main goal is to provide an eclectic music area where you can listen to funk, reggae and dub in the afternoon by the shores of the lake. As night goes by both the bass and the rhythms will become heavier: dubstep, breakbeat, deep techno, minimal, tech-house or neo-trance. Some of the cutting edge artists of modern music will perform here in a freestyle environment. No boundaries, just music!
The line up is here <http://www.boomfestival.org/boom2008/arts_culture/groovybeach.php> .
A Detached Idea!
For some of us, the worst thing about going abroad to a festival is the weight of our bags. Thinking about a lighter experience we are offering a new service in Boom: the chance for you to come with just some clothes and get the rest you need here. In this way you can get camping products inside the Boom Shop. From tents to couches, or first aid kits, it?s up to you to decide. Be detached on your trip to Portugal!
For more info contact: boomshop@boomfestival.org <mailto:boomshop@boomfestival.org> .
Boom Construction Is Going Fast In The Venue
The construction of Boom started on May 1st. There are already 100
people working on location. Some of the first projects to be developed
were the gardens and the organization of the basic infra-structures
that will be made with straw bale. Most of the toilets will be
compostable and most of the energy of the generators will be run on
waste vegetable oil. The venue is all built up according to
Permaculture principles, so let us remind you: don?t loose yourself in
the program, be the program, be the Boom!"

I dont know how enviromental friendly it is to just buy all your tents
at boom (and throw it away after?)
When travelling to festivals you should be prepared to bring
everything on your back, its some of the charm about it I think..

TAKEN FROM BOOM SITE:
Music - Dancefloor - Lineup
“If people can dance together they can live together”
Mel Cherren
“I believe that if you put your ego in front of the music, then the people trying to listen to the music can’t hear it, they just listen to your ego”
‘Mad’ Mike Banks (Underground Resistance)
Music-wise Boom is an underground festival. Since 1997 the major concern has been to clash unknown artists with popular names. We don’t like to do line ups based on a small groups of artists that travel all around the world. Instead at Boom the main concern has been to show other artists, different ideas and more sub-genres. We know that if we’d put a few more popular names it would be easier commercially. But we wouldn’t be doing our best to enrich the music culture of psy-trance and to widen its horizons.
The 2008 edition line up is not based on a monoculture perspective. It’s based on a strong conviction that we must show the underground side of psy-trance as opposed to the dominant culture of the trance scene nowadays of big names in big line ups (repeating the mistakes that all other dance music genres made years ago, reducing the choices of the audience and emphasizing quantity as opposed of quality).
Our concept is to show the underground and to create a dance floor where all sub-genres of psy-trance are represented. Some people will like it and some others won’t. However one thing is for sure: if you want to get in touch with the diversity that is still around you’ll have the dance floor. Be open-minded, from full-on psy-trance, dark, progressive to experimental, tribal and acoustic trance, techy or suomi, neo-goa trance and classic psy-trance: all tribes are represented. No monoculture, just diversity. Be open-minded in a dancefloor powered by a Funktion One sound system!

Don't think so.
Koxbox is not on that list, but he has an appearance confirmed on BOOM on his myspace page: http://www.myspace.com/koxbox303
Also, I'm expecting Bigwigs to come also. |

I hope there'll be old goa style music too! I like the idea of diversity, neglecting goa would be a crime! |

Mawri: I can't really come up with any names cuz for me few artists have material enough to make a delicate set. So a goa DJ would be great too.
I very exajt!!!
Ellon: Just skip watching the homepage and it'll still be like the old secretive concept |
