Brothers and Sisters,
I'm thinking of how to get to Boom from Lisbon on Thursday, Aug. 14th. I won't be able to catch the Boom Bus (it leaves from Lisbon only on the 11th and 12th). There's a train from Lisbon to Castelo Branco, right? The train website was down when I last tried Does anyone know how regular the train from Lisbon to Castelo is and how long it will take? Also, how can I get from Castelo Branco to Boom (Jingabé you say it's 38 km, right?)

I'm sorry if this information was posted earlier. I've been through some sections of this thread, but not all

I checked the railwys webpage ( www.cp.pt ) but they don't have info available for the month of August yet. I submited schedules for a regular thursday of June, leaving from Lisbon-Oriente station, and there are 7 daily trains, the shortest journey being 2h34 (Intercity) and the longest 4h04 (Regional Train). Price is € 11.50.

Or you could take a bus from Lisbon to Idanha-a-Nova (5km from festival site). Check www.rede-expressos.pt

The easy way to go there is BOOM bus since will take directly from the airport till inside of the festival.

Besides that you can take a bus to Idanha .But this way becomes more expensive since you have to take some transport from airport to bus station in Sete Rios then take the bus, change one time, arrive to idanha and then you still have to find ride or taxi to the location and still will just leave you at the door or in beginning of the line

Schedules rede expressos
LISBOA e IDANHA NOVA (233 kms)

Departure:09:50h Arrival:13:15 h and
Departure:14:00h Arrival 18.05 h
Preço: 13.20 €
Change of Bus: in CASTELO BRANCO
Frequência : Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays except Holly days

See you all there !!!!!

hi guys any advice on how to get to the venue directly from madrid ???

we were planning to leave from madrid on 12 th august early morning....

is there a bus /train to the town nearest to idana nova ?and how long does this usually take ??

You can buy a ticket for the BOOM Bus that will take you directly form Madrid Aiport to the festival site. It costs 85 € + 3 € paypal fee and you can buy it directly on BOOM website. The problem is that there is only one, and it leaves on the 11th August at 20h00

From Lisbon you would have two buses daily on the 11th and the 12th and from Porto you would have one daily, also on the 11th or the 12th.

Have you already bought your flight ticket?

If you are unable to catch BOOM Bus at 20h00 in Madrid the 11th, your best option is to buy a return flight (as I don't think you can buy a one-way ticket for BOOM Bus) from Madrid to Porto with Ryanair for just € 19.98 (checked the price today) that arrives at 11h30 and would give you time to catch the BOOM Bus at 12h00, and for only € 55 + € 2 paypal fee. The ticket guarantes your return trip on the BOOM Bus back to Porto airport to catch you flight back to Madrid. It would even cost you less than the BOOM bus ticket from Madrid.

Of course, if you are able to catch BOOM Bus in Madrid don't hesitate. If not, I think this is an option to consider. But don't take to long as flights Madrid - Porto will surelly not be available at this price for long. I took the same flight last weekend and it cost me 65 €. If by any misfortune the flight from Madrid would arrive late you could still catch a bus (www.rede-expressos.pt) from Porto to Castelo Branco (38km from Boom) for 14.80 €.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the info ...
but just on question we are planning to leave madrid on the 12 th morning to the venue (and we r not catching the boom bus as its to expensive ...

is there a bus or train from Madrid to the closest town(Idanha/castello Branco ) to the venue without having to go to lisbon or porto

...which town is that and how long would this journey take and how frequent are these buses / trains...???

There are no direct trains from Madrid to Castelo Branco, you have to take the train to Lisbon, and then catch the train or bus to Castelo Branco, but that would be a long way! the rail service is not that cheap from Madrid to Lisbon

this is as far as I know and based on my experience
the best thing is to find someone travelling by car from Madrid and catch a spot in the car, it will be FUUUUNNNNNN

There is no direct train from Madrid to Castelo Branco.

By road, you can catch a bus from Madrid to Guarda (Portugal). Then another to Castelo Branco, and on to Idanha-a-Nova. Check www.alsa.es, or www.rumbo.es, for the bus Madrid-Guarda, and www.rede-expressos.pt for the bus to Castelo Branco.

Boom is a huge festival and I wouldn't be surprised to see ATMs inside the camp but to be on the safe side I would recommend you take cash.

Man tht will be quite dificult i think!

the tickets to the Boom are personnal and can´t be change by any means.

Im saying that because 2 years ago i bought a pre-sale ticket and i couldnt make it because of professional reasons, and i tried to contact boom team calling them and sending emails wiht prints of the both´s ID ( mine and the person tht were suposed to go with my ticket) and when she got there the people from the entrance didn´t let her in with my ticket, she tryed everything untill she was forced to buy another ticket and trow mine away.

So i think it will be quite hard for you to get a pre-sale ticket cheaper by that way.

Anyway good luck!!
