Ok, so heres the thing...
I´m planning to go to BOOM but I need to have an idea of how much someone might spend in there. Some say food and drinks are expensive, others say that theres a way to go to the villages and get cheaper stuff and then come back to the festival...
I need an average of how much things really are in there..

- can you take food and drinks with ya into the festival?
- does it get cold at night or is it just freakin´ hot all the time? (can you walk around barefoot or will i burn my feet?)
- I know you can take boom´s bus from Lisbon airport to Idanha-a-Nova but I saw that theres a way to get there by train (way cheaper by the way...) Has anyone gone there by train or is it not really worth it??

many questions..
many intentions..
one reason!

Hey BOOMer things are no more expensive than anywhere else in europe or any other festivals, if you're buying beer from the Heineken bar all day and you eat 5 meals a day then its going to cost you a lot... but 3euros a meal we ate twice a day, and 2.50euros a drink, re fill water is free from the drinking taps.
you can go to the village, we went and got some surplies half way through at last BOOM. there was no problem with this.

we took food and drink in with us...

during the day it is very hot!! but at night you might need a hoody and if you sleep at night then a sleeping bag will do fine.
most people wear sandals or flip flops, or trainers the ground has some rocks in it and does get hot in middle of the day, so just be careful and your toes will happy.

about the train...ive got no idea, we hired a car, and this year we'll do the same, if i didnt i would take the BOOM bus, its the most convienent way, and you'll have a good vibe on the bus...

the only other advice is...some people in this community of love have sticky fingers so, any valuables you have, hand them into the BOOM desk, they have a place to keep your stuff safe...dont worry too much
...go and enjoy

does it make any difference if we arrive one day earlier, i mean to avoid the long wait at the entrance?

One day earlier, the wait is already there....i actually prefer to go one day later!!!! In 2006 it took me 1 hour to get in while my friends where waiting the day before for 12/14 hours.....

thats fucked

for a festival of this magnitude surely there must some other alternative and efficient way to move the line quicker as opposed to waiting that long in a que

yeah...build highways....the festival is away from the rest of society its a small road, and the guys at the gate work hard..very hard...its a small price to pay...and part of the journey....make the best of it or arrive late...

Friends have been giving me little pieces of survival advice and one of them has been to get a bike for the festival if you can. I have no way to transport a bike so will there be somewhere that I can rent a bike either at or near the festival?

If not, maybe it's a good idea for organizers to set something up...maybe?           "It's ALL about the clickety-clack!!!!"-Neuronympho

Couple of questions...

When does the music finish? Says the last day is Monday but does the music go all day? All stages?

Is there the same problems leaving the party as arriving??? 40 000 ppl trying to get out on Monday arvo??? Worth staying till tues for an easy exit?

How long's the drive from Lisbon to the site?

If u arrive on the Wednesday will we be able to drive into the camping area and set up with friends who have been there from Monday?

Is the mobile phone reception on site?

Cheers.           www.myspace.com/jonnymacdj

@ JonnyMac

I can just answer you some of your questions.
Probably the music will end on Sunday (on the mainstage), and you can use your mobile on the site - also, there are phone booths on boom

see ya           this is sick :P

Hey Jonny
last year the music on the main stage continued until 12 on the last night...9th like this years 18th. Tsuyoshi Suzuki finished with Hydraglyph's electric feed...xtra little info...
as far as I remember the main stage stopped everyday for about 2/3 hours somewhere around 5pm-7pm...I think the chillout never stops. and the sacred fire has various times.....

We stayed until the late afternoon of the 10th last BOOM, and there was a big que, most of the morning but it moves a lot faster than entering as there are no passports and tickets to be checked. chill out relax have a swim, laugh and reflect if you can...

there is lots of place to camp, if your friends are camping in a busy area then it might be tough to squeeze your tent in...we had plenty of space around us for people to join later...

hope this helps

Have a great time!!
