What airport do you fly into for BOOM? The cheapest, preferably..

Ok, back on topic...

You can fly to Porto (OPO). Ryanair, Easyjet, Clickair, Tuifly, Transvia, they are all low cost airlines that fly to that airport, from big european hubs like Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, London, Milano. For people who will need a conecting flight to Portugal, the best option is flying to Barcelona and then to Porto with Clickair, for just € 60 round trip. That's how much I paid this last September. Of course, you'll have to book as early as you can.

From Porto to the festival site you'll need to cover a distance of 300km. From Lisbon the distance is 265 km. So, not a big difference. The reason Porto can be better is that it is less likely for the airport to loose your things when returning. Lisbon's airport is a big mess, old facilities and overcrowded. Porto airport is a spacy and modern one, with less than half of passangers. Belive me, I travelled a lot these past years thru both. Madrid can also be an option, but you'll have to make 460 km to the festival site.

I am in a dilemma right now & was wondering if you could possibly suggest an appropriate course of action with regards to the visa.
In order to get a portugese visa, one needs a letter of invitation from a portugese citizen or a hotel booking & since I am planning on camping out at Boom'08 & hence I can't show any hotel booking & since i don't have any friends from Portugal, how can i get my hands on a letter of invitation??

You dont need a letter of invitation. Just take printouts of the boom site + the page where they say they have camping facilities. Have ur bank statement, travel insurance and return ticket ready. Visa shudnt be a problem then.. Worked for me n i'm indian as well.. PM me if you want more info

I think that bitchin about ticket price is one thing, and everyone have right to critisize it. But all of you have a choice of to go, or not!

The other thing is bitchin about free entrance for Macedonian people?! No one calculate here, how expensive schengen visa is? In Serbia for example, one have to pay 35 euros just for visa fee, and with some other documents the total price is round 50 euro.
I think it's similar in Macedonia, and correct me if I wrong.

Transportation is very expensive too, and there are no cheap flights, no low budget airlines, so you have to pay regular season airticket price which is I think 'round 400 euros, and with entrance ticket, and other expenses total cost of the festival is equal with 3-4 average paycheks in countries like Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and many others in Eastern Europe.. That is what I call "Expensive"..

Part with the cheaper entrance for countries with low economies was very well explained for the one of the Sonica fest past editions, by Kaio or Edoardo, I can't recall ATM who..

In the end, I hope that BOOM team will provide us 1 more memorable edition of this amazing fest, and next year all of us will proudly wear our Boom bracelets

Regards

Excuse me, who was bitching about free entrance for Macedonian people?
Nobody said anything bad about it.

Pls next time read the posts properly before talking negative about members' posts.

Some politic issues camed under the surface, and IT had to clean a bit, 'cos this topic is 'bout Boom festival only, and some forged Macedonian passports
