My review:

Boom was a little bit different from previous years in some points better in other points worst. This is my opinion of course, others may have other opinions, but my review was what I felt on this Boom.

This years cue was the biggest I have ever seen in all the editions of the festival since 2002 (the year I started to go to). I have arrived on the road very near to the 1st pre-parking at about 8 p.m. day 10 and only managed to enter at about 24 hours later¡KI think this was one of the biggest problems the organization faced. It seems that the main reason of this was the 10 000 people that appeared without ticket. Well for the persons who bought the ticket earlier this was a major setback¡KI think in future editions they should reserve a day only for the persons who bought their tickets in advance - the ones boom organizers consider their ¡§real partners¡¨ - and other day to those who will buy their ticket only at the entrance.

Day 2 (12th August) + Day 3 (13th August): the dance floor opened with Star Sounds Orchestra. To be honest I wasn¡¦t there on the dance floor but for what I could hear, I was not very impressed with their music. I preferred much more the performance they had in 2004 edition. One thing that was a little bit of a surprise on the beginning, but a disappointment more to the end was Khopat. The start he had was one of the most energetic ones I have ever witnessed, and the crowd was really enjoying it, but he loose some energy after the 1st 15 minutes¡Khe really took the crowd onto a higher place, but wasn¡¦t able to keep them there. At 1 a.m. I moved to the sacred fire to hear Terrakota, but the waiting was too much for me, they were on 40 minutes delay because of the preparations of the stage, but 40 minutes was too much for me. After a good night sleep¡Kfrom my tent, I managed to hear Zaraus, that had some interesting sounds¡Kthen after some walks on the festival, I went to hear a little bit of N.A.S.A that had a great performance.

Day 4 (14th August): didn¡¦t managed to hear or see anything because my girlfriend had the attack of the bacteria that was present on boom (please add another person to it¡Kand 3 more persons from my camping also had the bacteria attack) With great sadness I didn¡¦t heard Parus and Atriohm; my girlfriend told me to check the performances, but I could not just leave her like that, with that illness of the bacteria¡KI also want to felicitate the medics, and in this specific case Pedro (P_Mac), that were of great assistance, giving all the help.
Believe it or not, I had another big problem, well me and my friends; we had a flood from the showers. I don¡¦t know how it happened but the water from the showers infiltrated on the ground, and precisely where we were camping, the water started to flow, at the beginning very little, but after some hours with the floor saturated, it was too much. We spoke with some elements of the org, and they said they were aware of the problem¡Kbut nothing happened to solve the problem, and we had to move to another location in order to avoid the dirty water from the showers. And in some point it was better to move from there because we were very near of the Groovy Beach, and it was impossible to sleep with the music so loud - it made an incredible resonance on the ground, even with some blockers on the ears, that they made available on the Cosmicare area. It was so loud, that sometimes when the music on the dance floor had a brake¡Kthe sound coming from Groovy Beach could be heard. I believe this was one of the biggest mistakes / problems¡Kthe proximity between dance floor and groovy beach, was too bad to be honest. Next time please Boom org try to solve this issue because, having music interfering with trance floor and groovy floor it is not recommended at all. Late that night I went for a walk on the Liminal village, and I must say¡Khuau¡Kwhat pictures, and paintings were presented in there¡Kgreat quality; I am speechless with such images! This is always a great focus of the festival¡Ksuch is the quality they invest in this area (Liminal village), and I also saw the presentation from Robert Venosa and Martina Hoffman. One curious thing I learnt was that Robert Venosa is responsible for the logo of Carlos Santana, the guitar player. All those letters with the small effects¡Khe is the man behind that. And also some of the paintings in the Liminal village were made by him¡KI specially liked one that if I recall was named something like the ¡§zoo¡¨, where he had more that 500 animals presented on the painting¡Kquite impressive!

Day 5 (15Th August): after 4 hours of moving my stuff up and down because of the flood, I needed a good night sleep¡KI managed to hear Spliffnik on my tent, and I heard some crazy sounds¡Kand unfortunately I heard a track, whom I don¡¦t know the name, but it was fucking great! So Nick if you are reading this please let me now, the name of a ripping track you used on your set...it was one of the first tracks you mixed! Great track!
On the morning I went to hear Las Hark, and I must tell it was a great performance: several shpongle remixed tracks, and other great music as well¡Kthis was in the ambient area, it was music with percussive elements¡Kit was trance with slow kick...but very danceable¡KI really dig that set from Las Hark. Also on this day, if I am not mistaken, the organizers came to the dance floor and announced that one person had died (from heart attack (!?)), or at least this was what seemed to my hears (!?), and then after Shadow FX we had one more hour of music¡Kvery sentimental music, with one of the best sets I have heard in boom¡Kdoes anybody knows who performed? Also I don¡¦t know if it was Shadow FX, or the performer after, that presented a track, progressive style, with the samples of Pink Floyd Crazy Diamond¡Kdoes anybody knows the track?
Also later at night, I managed to hear a little bit from Dick Trevor with a great set! I have pity I didn¡¦t heard more, but I really didn¡¦t knew who was performing, because the paper they gave on the entrance with the line up had a gap on this day¡Knevertheless what I heard pleased me a lot. And now I have a big doubt¡KI heard this fantastic tune, with some samples from Albert Hoffman, and I don¡¦t know if it was Dj martin, or Tetrameth (that had exchanged day with Kino Oko), or even the Dj who perform after Shadow FX, that this track that contained the speech where the 2006 Basel LSD symposium DVD is announced¡KI don¡¦t know if anybody has seen the publicity where Albert states something like this but in German (me thinks): ¡§it pleases me the most to see that man is made of the same material of the roses¡Kand it is nice to see that man is slowly coming back to his roots, and leaving apart this absurd materialism¡¨ ¡V something very similar to this (the advertisement of this DVD is from light riders¡Kdon¡¦t know if it helps¡K).

Day 6 (16th August): Kashyyyk¡Kwell what to say about this live? To much bpms on the dance floor¡Kand especially from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m.? It isn¡¦t his fault to perform at that time, but from the org. It was to earlier to perform with music from those bpms¡Kand then I went to sleep cause nothing more attracted me¡KI also managed to hear Behind Blue Eyes in the afternoon, and I dig the middle of his live, but, more to the end it became bored to me. Later that night I heard also The Peaking Goddess Collective, with an amazing live! And finally I meet Moreno (Master Margherita) the thing is that it was only 30 seconds chat, but it was nice¡Kand I didn¡¦t want to delay the live, that was about to begin ƒº

Day 7 (17th August): Ocelot...well to me it was a disappointment. I expected more from this great producer, the beginning was really great, but it became to boring¡Kto much hypnotic music¡KI expect something different...way different, especially considering the great tracks he releases. So I leaved the dance floor and went into the Sacred Fire and was able to hear a little bit of Pedra Branca ¡V great music! In that day also, I heard a little bit of Error Corrective, which had interesting sounds, but I only managed to hear a little bit. At 10 a.m. I heard Subconscious Mind that rocked the place! Amazing music, with a Goa trance feeling¡Kfantastic! Also one Dj that rocked the house, with an amazing set, was Dj Beardy, mixing several tracks I believe very similar to Pondscum sonorities - in the afternoon this Dj was the cheery on the top of the cake!
And the closing ceremony on the dance floor: Psynema, with Phoenix Fire, was simply FANTASTIC! Amazing ceremony¡Kthe visuals combined with the black lights on sticks and the fire from the Phoenix performers were delicious!
After this I went to see Blasted Mechanism whom also had lots of people to see them and they rocked the place!
To conclude my review I just want to say, that boom is always an unique experience, but this year they faced major problems, regarding the amount of people on the festival, that being so much, it turns out that they don¡¦t had the logistics to handle so much people. Also the groovy beach being very near to the dance floor was a bad idea. The decoration of the dance floor, wasn¡¦t nothing special, it reminded me a regular dance floor from a regular party. When I came to Boom I always expect to see a work of art on the dance floor that leaves my mouth open, speechless, and this year it wasn¡¦t big deal. It had lots of shadows, but the deco was nothing to outstanding.
The Ecovillage was also a good spot; I just loved the little fairies they had on a small place, looking like a small fairy village.
The Ambient Area I felt they could have improved a little bit more¡KI felt somehow a little bit of abandoned (!?)¡Kthe fountain in the middle of it was one aspect top notch¡Kbut I think more ¡§investment¡¨ was necessary.
It was very nice to meet Nicolas Megalopsy in there, and it was a fortuity to meet him there on the Liminal village, the way it happened. The world moves in strange ways, and I believe if we had made an appointment it wouldn¡¦t be so easy to meet each other
It was nice to review my old friend Lefteris, and see how life keeps moving forward never leaving true friendship fade away .
My friends whom Boom is always fun with them!
Big love to me girlfriend Ayers who is an amazing person, and which I had great fun with her¡Knever ending walks through the festival, seeing this and that, going to the shops (who by the way were not very expensive I believe)¡Kit was simply fantastic being with her .
So considering all good and bad stuff that I was not able to traduce here in words, or simply I forgot, and don¡¦t come to my mind right now, Boom is always a unique experience.

The water supply inside of Boom was also horrible, there were taps of water with water coming from god knows where, but I'm sure it was not drinking water and it was full of chlorine, many kitchens cooked with water from the lake which was infected (no wonder since people used the lakes as toilets) and caused diarrhea for lots of people who didn't even get in the lakes. The only clean drinking water was sold only in half llitre (branded) bottles for a Euro, but with normal water consumption this would amount to 6 to 10 Euros a day so many people couldn't afford it and had to poison themselves with the tap water.

that chlorine you speak of, it means the water is taken care to be drinkable           ...

I don't understand many of the comments here.

People had more than six months to buy the tickets, and at a cheaper price, but get pissed when a lot of people more than what was expected arrive, and they were forced to stop letting people in.

Main floor was huge and with crystal clear sound everywhere around it. Music was perfect, at least from 9h00/10h00 to the end of the afternoon. Tristan completely blew me way during his live act. But many others gave everybody excellent sets. Less deco but really great infrastructure.

Music on groovy beach featured different sounds, as Boom had announced. And hearing good progressive music was not hard. I heard Pena's set and also Anti, and good progressive was what I got. Also enjoyed very much Extrawelt and Loopus in Fabula.

Medical care was clearly and visibly present and seemed to me very efficient. A friend of mine made a nasty cut in one foot and in less than 10 min was taken care of.

Sorry for all of you with bad experiences. Mine was very good and I look back with great joy.

Boom to everybody

1 - some people bought their tickets in 6 months advance like me, and what was the result?24 hours on the cue..i think the org should have reserved a day only for the people whoi had tickets, and another to the ones who didn´t had..after all, we are the "real partners" me thinks.

2 - the music is always subjective, but yes, great music, and bad music aswell.and in my opnion of course, i just think it was to much "quantity" music for such a small space like the dancefloor.but ok, some people may enjoy it, but nevertheless with so much quantity, we could still hear the groovy beach sometimes..

3 - the paramedics i don´t have acomplaint at all. they were very nice in handling my girlfriend.           ...

People (mostly workers) suffering with high fevers, vomiting and diarreas with blood on it were put at their tent with an Ultra Levur without even checking their temperature! A worker friend of mine went to the hospital because he called the emergency line or else he would be stuck at his tent for not drawing attentions to the sanitary inspection who was this close to shut down the festival. I will report this P-Mac idiot, believe me.

This year I worked there, now i realized i wont even go there again to have fun. People must realize that boom as it was is over.

I know much more that people wouldn't even believe, but unfortunatly for you and fortunatly to the organizers i will shut my mouth and make my full review by letter, lets say, to the sanitary inspections or ASAE who where totally deceived by the organizers.

Also, as someone said before, dont blame only the org, lots of animals were there which are also called as "party people". Children with 2 years old with those climateric conditions? Get a grip dudes, I wont even sit my feet in a psy party again in my life.

1 - Gordon, i must tell by what happened to my girlfriend that the temperature was measured, and some of my friends it also happened the same.

2 - i reckon with you also..boom has it was is over now.

3 - i also found some conditions worthy of a sanitarium inspection. it should have been there to ensure the quality of stuffs etc etc.

4 - and i also agree with you with the heat and conditionms and bring dogs (not allowed by the org - and i saw several securities to get people out because of dogs), and children.to a regular human being it is a "hard" experience sometime, i imagine to a child...or probably it can be easier.           ...

;Boom; number 4 for me...always a special experience....this year quite a lot was different ....some I liked more , some was better before ...but you never will have 100%...and its refreshing to be creativ ..still the same great spirit! Irina Mikailhova + Star Sounds Orchestra with their opening > AMAZING ENERGY I FELT< The groovy beach, nice but maybe at another location better ,the music was to much mixed up with the maindancefloor beats for my taste ..and at night heavy noise! In the tent.!its so nice when the tranceheartbeat is following....and maybe a bit more music-quality at the chillarea .....and there where a bit to much fashionshops......really min no transport at the gate to get out...people had to walk all the way out ( whats ok,,) but than km at the streets direction idhana a nova....in the heat..................
BUT...... beautifull gardens + deko + food + music, there where a lot watertaps......intresting, wonderful things to do ...THE LOCATION...the emergency care, bombeiros , the people (cleaning-p). I had wonderful days with my boyfriend this time and I feel closer than ever with him...Thank you Boom............. Boom makes me so much more free and strong and wild ...the walls of civilisation are braking down , nature is calling..............LOVE AND PEACE for everybody til 2010

Amen

well some ppl do...
anyway..the groovy beach matter is getting a bit out of hand...
it was too close to the main stage and the crappy mainstream radio station i work for plays better music than the afternoon's groovy..end of story..
i enjoyed my time @ boom but i aint going again...
the trip from cyprus to portugal is too much for a weeks hastle !
i'll tell you again i give the festival a 9/10...its not a 10 becuase of the groovys afternoon nightmare....
the early morning groovy is a different story !
too much money and too much hastle..
