Reading all the comments here made feel even more divided than before...
I left the festival site with mixed emotions and trying not to compare this edition with previos ones...
I adored many music acts, conferences, deco details and the usual energy i get with my friends and general crowd, but...
Its worrying to read the negative testemonies of people who worked there, the abuse some suffered at the hands of the police and a general magiclost feeling in so many voices.
Hope we can survive as a contra-culture to the mediocrity of today...

Re: Trainwrecking ...
I'm surprised that I have not read from anyone yet a comment about what seemed to me the worst I've ever had at a festival or a party (as for me music is most important) ... which were the two (strong, function one) sound systems and therefore the two basslines corrupting each other (though I also like minimal and drum'n'bass). Trainwrecking all over the place, with no escape: even in the healing area (less impact was by the food stands, below the systems), shaking the ground when lying down (even after I moved my tent to a 'better' spot), hearing it in the breaks even at the main floor (least disturbance) ...
To me, This is the reason, why me/so many people got sick. If the body mind soul has to cope with such trainwrecking cacophonies, almost nonstop, there's not much left to deal with eg. bacterias.
Musicwise ... well, I missed not having at least one entire night of dark deep psy .. (How come the line up was sooo different than in 2006?! Why were none of the russian or greek artists invited?)
Otherwise I find there was improvement to 2006 (dry toilets, more space / spread out area), I liked the LandArt, think the food was good, portions could (again) have been bigger/more satisfying...
Some healing area workshops and meditations should (have) been quality controlled ...
The lake had foam bubbles on the surface, the last day I went swimming? Makes me always sad to see that so many (psy?!) people still litter and think partying does not go with consciousness...
Well, it is a huge task, organizing such a big happening, so anyway: Thanks to all creators and helpers: great place / people / festival.. ! BOOM !

i'm completely shocked by the comments i read here. maybe i'm naive, but this was my first boom and i truely feel it was one of the most amazing experiences of my life so far.
i was overwhelmed by the people and the beauty of the landscape. the music for me was not the highlight of the festival although i did enjoy it at times.
it's hard for me to describe in words all the energy and good vibes i got from the people i met, some of them really opened my eyes for new lifestyles and state of mind, and for me, that's what it's all about!
as for the specific complaints i read here:
1. cost of tickets and the fact that they ran out - you people had plenty of time to buy tickets, even at a cheaper price, it's your own fault for waiting for the last minute!
2. cost of food and water - the nearest town was only a 10 minute drive from the festival. personally i went there twice during the festival and bought fresh food ingrediants so i could cook my own meals, and everything else i needed to survive. that made my visit to the boom a whole lot cheaper so all you lazy complaining bums could have just done the same! there was a shuttle bus going up there like twice a day, so everyone had a fair chance to go up to the town and just get what ever they needed for a cheaper, more reasonable price!
3. my tent was'nt too far from the chemical toilets and i personally saw them being cleaned twice a day! i never waited too long to use any of the toilets, and i could always find one which was in a reasonable state to use.
4. the deco - the festival was being held in one of the most beautiful places i've seen, who needs deco when you can see the vast lake streching out with all it's colours from the dancefloor? and anyways i felt that there was enough deco, it was simple and amazingly sophisticated, not to mention the human deco, all the colourful people who were just a joy to look at.
4. people getting sick - the are plenty of reasons for that, i got sick myself but i'm not blaming anyone, being out for a week in nature, in the heat, includind drugs, with 35,000 people could cause a person a few physical not to mention mental problems as well, could it not?
the only bad thing i have to say is about the queue at the entrance - that could have been organised in a far better way i think!
i arrived a day earlier and ended up waiting almost 24 hours! and my car didn't even move 1 meter... finally i decided to walk down to the festival with all my camping gear om my back, i saw many people making the same decision so there were lots of abandoned cars along the way. i only saw my car again 2 days later when i came to pick it up and finally bring it inside the festival. i hope they do something about this issue for the next addition of the boom because it is truly unfair for the crowd.
besides that, i had a wonderful time and in contrary to some of the things i read here, i really appreciate the work that was done in this featival by the boom team, i feel for sure that they gave me my money's worth and even some more experiences which money can't buy....
pictures soon.... |

You should had IMHO bro.... cause for me it was the place to be in the early morning as the music on the DF didn't match my taste of psytrance.... better groove on some electro-minimal techno tunes as the sunrise. So the groovy beach was fantastic IMHO... |

the lake, the sacred fire, the healing area, the theatroom, the liminal village, the ambient forest and the groovy beach was pretty cool....... the dancefloor looked like just an addition for those who seemed like if they had no chance to listen to psytrance on a big sound system so far ......hope there will be more and more gardens and green areas in the next editions. boom!!! .......and even more variety in food and drinks could make it even more interesting |

i totally agree with you anthony, groovy beach was by far the best thing at boom this year.. great alternative for the people who don't like the music being played at the morning like me!
and about people complaining about other's complaining.. everyone is entitled to their own opinion and i see that most people who thought that boom was amazing and something out of this world is people who went to boom for the first time this year. after the amazing boom 2006 i was so fuckin disappointed with this one, especially after the soo over priced tickets.. i was expecting a much better deco, organization, etc etc.
ok maybe it's me who's getting old and tired of this "contra culture" thing, i really don't relate to the hippie way of life, i really like society and the way most of the things work, so maybe it's my problem and i shouldn't be going to any more of this festivals (which i don't intend to after this huge disappointment)
and let me tell you one thing, the official festival numbers are 25000 people, but lots of friends who worked there told me it was really 40000 people, but they said it was less to pay less taxes.. it's pretty obvious that good mood org only cares about the money and don't care about people having good conditions at all
When I dance, I put myself in the DJ's hands to take me to a journey - the unconscious journey to reality
KARKEIJA KREW!!!!!!!! dancing is the phrr fo da powa |

Short feedback from me here...
I had an allright experience down there, nothing really blasting, but in part I can blame that on myself missing out on way too many events/concerts. But I've met a lot of lovely people, that's important as well.
All in all I was impressed to see the seriousness being put into the arrangement of all stages and areas, from art-installations to exhibitions, theatre, Sacred Fire, etc. This was really reviving to see.
Also, the latter (Sacred Fire) proved to be a positive surprise for me, and always a neat atmosphere up there.
@Cosm:
I am as well infected with the Boom Belly Bug - the symptoms haven't lessened much over the days, I hope for it to go away soon.
The FB-group you posted didn't work here - can you help me out? ;-)
/Jesper.
