And if you are running more than 1 gig of ram, is it really boosting your performance?
I just researched that, 4 sticks at double channel will NOT run at 400mhz at 1T.
SO I have to decide now whether I want 2 X 512Mhz sticks OR 2 X 1Ghz sticks.

2x512MB sticks @ 400MHz (once I fix my motherboard). 1GB is essential for the way I work.          Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

I got one 1024, im planning for one more... i know my mobo can handle it! it supports up to 4gb..

i heard lots of stuff about memorys, something about first port is what it reads from, so inserting the biggest memory in the first port will make it faster than inserting a lower memory there...

i dont know if its true, im not a computer geek

if you work alot with big sample libs it can be good to have lots of memory!

great. so it sounds like 1 gig total of high quality running on dual-channel is enough to run loads of VSTi's. Thanks friends.

2 x 512Mb DDR @ 400Mhz (each bus of the dual bus is at 400Mhz)

if you are running hyperthreading..dual buses you have to run even amounts of RAM, or it wont work.
