PM message too long ?? ?!! ???

Hey Everyone.. especially IsraAdmin, I just finished writing a huge PM message to someone only to click the "send" button and for it to bounce back at me telling me it is too long to send.. ??
Ok, i can understand that there are limits to our messages, but when i pressed back on my browser, i had lost all the information and had to restart the whole text.. there was alot of emotion in my first text that could not be re-created in the second one..
so my question is, would it be possible to at least have a "character Count" or something indicating that we are comming close to "too long" of a message??? or maybe some way to keep our writings in RAM ??
either way, it is too late now, but you know, for the future..

I have lost a bunch of msg's with lots of thoughts put into it, so when it just says 'server error' or something and i lose the entire contents, i get pissed off 
So know when i write an important lengthy msg, i save it somewhere on word or notepad before clickin send.
