i can see your point kiko and i agree with you in most of it, although in compilations V.A, labels buy artists tracks when they are already finished, most of the times artists send 3 or 4 tracks for a label to choose one to include in the next compilation which makes it dificult to get that artists/engeneer cooperation. when talkin about artist solo albuns thats a different story and there i think that interaction between artist and sound engeneer would benefit the overall releases we have today.

yeah..but i think that even in V/A`s this cooperation between mastering engineer and artists is possible...i think that is not possible only if the labels are working to fast and bad without the necessary attention.
For example if the artists mixes are very good, of course the mastering engineer dont need more nothing, only need to make his work.
But sometimes the mixes are not ok (this happen a lot i think) , even when the lable manager want buy the song immediatly to the artist (most of label managers are not mastering engineers i think) , and in this situation i think the artist need to talk with mastering engineer to fix some things (if is really needed), when this track is in V/A to be mastered with the others.
My conclusion is... i think that a good lable have to work with all this small imprevisible things, only to can present to the public (even exegent public) good work in the final product.
I like good music, and i like to listen the music that i like with good sound.
And when i talk about good sound it can be dirty (if the musics ask for dirty sound), clean (if the musics ask for clean sound)...etc...etc...

Code Red
Please stop flooding us with crapy music
The prolem imo is not only the labels but also the artist and most of all the ditribution companies that promots everything (by their contract, true) at the same level.
DJ's - most of you have a serios egotrip problem, and lack of creativity (talking mostly about the Fullon seane) - Get Over It! Start creating your own ORIGINAL style cause most of it sounds the same!
Labels - its due your atitude that we're all sufering from over flooded scean, and picking and releasing just any kid started writing music on his pc just yesterday is not only flooding and confuzing the costumers, but also cosing the ppl to just download or burn music in bigger amounts - which is your lost (incase you failed to understand that yet).
Picking a trak to your next compilation to be released is not to be made randomly! Everything metters - the originality, or uniqe sounds if you rather call it this way, the quality of the sounds and mixing (like kiko has mantioned) and promoting a dj that is begging to be known somewhere is not to be consider at all, imo.
Ditribution companies - Music is for the ppl, and if you want ppl to by more cds then you maybe want to promote a uniqe cration and not just everything comes under your filthy hands.... (your hands are filthy anyhow - since your money suckers from all of us, aspecially from the artist themselfs!).
And ppl - don't just buy, everything is availble on the net - listen to it first, the artists are soooooo many and there's so much to pick from.
Trance music today is no longer an underground scean, it's more and more becoming main stream, so just like any pop singer can come up - so does trance creators and labels are poping up everywhere.
Focus on your tast, don't be like a herd surrendering to 1 ot 2 labels and no metter what comes out. egnor the big labels - they only there to make money and become more and more comercial as the scean is growing, so we can only stop them by not buying their cds - our power in the market....
and to thouse labels i can only say - Please Stop Existing!!! |
