Disk cache is in Live under preferences. You can set a maximum disk cache size there. I think the default is set to 10gb, so if your Live install is on the same partition as your OS, then they could be fighting for resources, especially since you wish to have all your samples set to warp, which is what the chache is used for mainly. There is also a clear cache function there which can be helpfull if your system is freezing.
Freeze function.. yes... essential! =) And also consider rendering out your warped samples as new ones when you are happy with them.
