At KVR they have tons of info on VSTi's, you won't know where to start looking in that site...
here a my fav's:

Pro-52 (Pro-53 has just been released btw)
Pro-five
Mercury-1
Halion
FM7 (you can run this synth without cubase)
i've also heared that Cronox is very good, but i have'nt tried it yet...

there is no good plugin for kick......create it yourself , learn how with the help of infected's website. thats how i did
