Hi freaks..
what you do when you go play and see a mono system in act?
What is your method to merge the L and R channels and route to both?           www.psychowave.net

A bit OT and probably been discussed before, but as a lot of people say; the big club systems always play in mono. Why is that?

You can bridge amps to get more power, but you have to waste the stereo part. Although that was mostly a thing of the past where people wanted to get the most volume for the equipment they had.

(Some) stereo spreaders are guilty of this. They reverse the phase of certain frequency bands, thus throwing the image far and wide in the stereo field. The thing is, when you send them sounds down one line, them bands meet and they cancel each other out completely at the point where they are 180 degrees out of phase. Back in the day I had to make sure my stereo mixes would translate well on mono playback (radio stations as well as the odd mono P.A.), as well as keeping the bass end really tight in the middle in order to avoid needles jumping off the records. Yes labels were pressing tunes on them black thin 12inch wobbly things called records back then...*lights pipe and rocks back the chair*
