hi
i am in a situation where i can't easyly decide whats best to do. so maybe you can help me with ur suggestions. some month ago a friend, don't know her very well, was asked if she would know someone who plays a live act for a xmas party. she said that i can play and called me later and told me. i was happy about a gig on a party on xmas. but i waited till last weekend that someone of the organizers would get in contact with me to talk about it. no one called, not really a problem i was stressed that time anyway, so i called the party hotline and it seems that one of the organizers was on the other side. after i told him who i am he sounded suddenly a bit different and told me he had not timetable yet (i didn't called for a timetable anyway) and that he got one call on the other line. so he asked me to send him my mobile number, what i did, and told me that he would call back later. i think it is now 6 days ago, and still no call and in two days is the party. my name is on the flyers and timetable - they don't even know how long my act is and just wrote 1 hour and i need at least two hours to play a nice story.
So the prob is that we didn't talk about anything and it seems they expect me to come and play!? Would u play there?
I mean i always like to play on a good soundsystem, and i play for free or travel expenses when it isn't a big commercial party, but here it is a big party and they take 15€ entry.
Anyone got ever in a situation like this?
peace

| These kinds of situations smell like crap organisations and you don't want that when playing live. |

+1
whatever the deal is, you have to feel the organizer is taking good care of you and the details you want to know.
You work to make good job, they expect you to make good job... so, you have to get the same respect back.

That doesnt sound right.
next time ask for deposit if you are going to be charging for your service or work through an agency.

The party is close to your location ? If not, they will have to pay you at least the transport in advance...
....i think, you better don't go if you have no contract, or money !
And, don't worry, you are not the only one who had this kind of bad experiences. From 21 booking requests i had in 2007, only 14 were real. The other were "canceled", or the organizers put me on line up but they didn't contacted me anymore, or they didn't payed the advance money. And same things are happening to all the artists in the psy scene.
So, don't worry about one party, there will be others and maybe next time, more professional organizers.
  NEW ALBUM OUT SOON !!!

Thanks 10x for ur advices
It is sad that things like this happen :|
I have the feeling that it is just a party to get some money without doing much for it. Aonther guy is booked and listed as live act though he already told the organizers that he will dj only some weeks ago.
It seems they just wanted some names as liveacts on
their flyer to attract more guests...
I won't play there, and i feel that it is the better way...
Wish u all a nice Xmas time
