As I found out, it is nearly impossible to isolate your studio without spending hundreds/thousands of Euros, I was wondering, how about just placing a/some bas trap(s) to keep only the bass in my room.

Would that be possible, or is that just a very silly/ignorant idea of mine?

Could some moderator place it in the Equipment and music creation section?

Usually you place them in corners.

Why don´t you go for DYI absorbers instead, that will save you alot of €           Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915

umm, i thought basstraps are to pretent standing waves in your room, you will not be able to stop your sound to the outside, but you can improve the quality of the sound inside.

cheers

I agree.

Do you want to improve your Roomaccoustic or to isolate your room from outside?

These two things are pretty different.

Placing BassTraps will prevent standing waves in your room and propably give a less muddy bass response.

Assuming you have now standing waves giving you a basspeak of XdB at a certain Frequency and the basstrap will flatten this peak, the difference for your neighbours will be the difference of volume if the flattened basspeak. The overall volume will get over to them all the same.           Most of my music for you to download at:

I wouldn't call the idea ignorant, but it won't really work. As it's been said, basstraps don't "trap" low freqs from going on further beyond walls, but rather re-fine the low frequency response of the room, inside the room.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

What is always good for instance is a bookshelf, filled with books that are at uneven angles, that means some of the books sticking out. An excellent trap for frequencies . Another idea is totake a futon bed and place it, some of the frequencies will be swallowed... and so on and so forth. Use your imagination, there are many things you can do to prevent standing waves.           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:
