The best way probably isn't to use Cubase at all. If you have Ableton Live you can timestretch it using the Complex algorithm - it's pretty good.

1. Cubase SX 3 time strecht algorythm is real good. It´s the same from Prosoniq Time Factory(wich I always liked). Maybe this is still not good enough...
2.Even using complex mode at Ableton Live I still get those "grains"...
So imo if u don´t care about the "key note", u can use the "Repitch" mode at Ableton Live. If u care, try the Cubase SX 3 Time Strecht(MPEX 2 type).
Anyway, I still can´t get perfect method for this.

right, the complex algorithm isn't so good, even they recommend it to pitch complete tracks.
expecially the bass frequencies lose quality ...
and with the repitch mode, it sounds pretty clean, up to 5bpm difference, i was happy with.
with cubase i can't say .. but i believe you.
""i have ableton but i never use it""

hello tsauberer
if you want the track to stay in key i don't know if it works at all ... haven't tried it yet but maybe have a go with the answers posted here. but if that doesn't matter you could try bouncing the track, re-import it, change the bpm and export it again.

I've timestretched a sample in one of my tracks using the SX3 timestretch'n'drag method, but it seems to have introduced lots of high frequency distortion. I can't eq it off either because thats where most of the original noise is.
Anyone else have this occasionally, the original sample sounds okay to me. It's only happened a couple of times. Deleting, reimporting and restretching produces the same result ?? Weird. |

Did you try changing the time stretching options in Cubase? I think the drag n stretch option is not the one with the best reults you can change it to a better one..

I'm not at home right now, but I'm pretty sure its set to 'complex' mode or similar. I had a play but they all seem to give similar results. Whats your opinion on the best? |

If i remember correctly you've gotta set it to MPEX mode & choose quality setting 4, which is the slowest but the highest quality..
If it still doesn't work out then Sony acid pro is good for time stretching too..Just import the sample, type the bpm & hit export and you're ready to go!
