I personally love the CMX 3000's! I used to be a vinyl only dj and those cmxs have a really good feel to them. I usually mix between 2 and 3 minutes and I feel that the cmxs are way easy to keep in line. (IMHO, better than vinyl) The pitch bend +- buttons really help to make and keep your mix real tight. They're cheaper than the CDJ 1000's and if you don't really need effects or sampling, then they definitely are the way to go! I used to buy lots of vinyl, but the style of what I play doesn't come out on vinyl anymore...
CDJ 100's used to be the standard for parties, so I would also make sure you are proficient in using those unless you brought the cmx's with you everywhere you went. But once you use the other types of cd players, you will probably love those CMX's... I don't own a set myself, but all my close friends do.

the only problem i ever had with the 3000's is sometimes they halt, usually it happens with burned cds the only way to fix it is to reboot .
it happened to me once in a middle of a party, imagine that...
