What I do not understand is people that DO NOT like Pink Floyd ....
I mean, there it is, the epitome of musical achievement, the greatest composers of music to have ever existed, the highest point that music has ever gotten to, the best ... blah blah blah ...
Nothing even comes close to them, they are the ultimate, and if U don`t like em, give em another listen.
U almost never will like Pink Floyd instantaneously, they will take time to grow on u, but once they do, every thing else will seem mundane in comparison ..
Of course everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but IMO, guys like the doors don`t even BEGIN to compare to Pink Floyd. I personally think the doors sucked, there was a time tht i liked them, but tht time got over when I discovered floyd.

Personally, I think Ozric Tentacles, Simon Posford and Aphex Twin are on the same level of musical genius as Sid&Waters...
But everyone has his own taste, and if that means that most people who like Ska don't like The Doors, well... maybe I think The Doors are great, but they can not like it.
Mozart is a genius. Many people in this forum don't hear Mozart. Does that mean anything about their taste in music? |

mozart is awsome and so r debussy beethoven and smetna and many others. and ozric r realy one of the best i`ve heard , man their good!!!!!!

Floyd are brilliant - Atom Heart Mother must be one of my favourites. yes they, are massive still over here and rightly so. I've read opinions on these pages saying they're sick of the link between this kind of music and trance but you cannot deny the fact that they are both very similar. People like Hendrix (some of the effects he uses with his guitar wouldn't sound out of place in a trance tune!!), EARLY Santana (not that shite put out last year) stuff like Abraxus, Caravanserai etc, bands such as Gong, Soft Machine, Greatful Dead all were extremely psychedelic and prominent in what was the trance-like music of their time. I've listened to them for years and still do as well as trance. And I would recommend it to anyone else too!! |
