i hear the strangest sounds coming out of my monitors sometimes... like a faint radio station cause i hear talking. wtf is going on? is that possible? it only happens rarely, once when there was a power out (right before it) and once when i turned them on.

Do you live near an airport ? Or maybe they've put up a new radiotransmitter nearby...?
I've heard cases were even a refrigerator picked up radio-contact from a nearby airport... |

dude I read i think in the guiness book of records, that there was a guy who herad strange noises in his head...after many tests it was dicovered that his filling in his tooth contained sodium (i think!!) and was causing the problem...my guitar amp does this and.......
once at uni I was chilling in my room when i heard a voice sounding like someone in the police...I openeed my window and outdide there was a police bike with the geeezer on the walkie talkie!!! Crazy. I freaked out and hid all the incriminating bits and bobs...it was just chance he had pulled up and was all ok...they must have strong signals!!! |

No. Your monitors are posessed. You need a deluded person to spiritually clean the room |

Yup, sounds logic.
I don't remember exactly the electronical explanation to the phenomena but it's perfectly explainable.
Something with resonance circuits that you have there. They must be tuned to one of the stations there.

I was just about to post a similar thread
but this thread would be sufficient
When i turn my sound card up the volume very loud
and no music is playing
i get a sort of static sound...
I think its due to grounding not sure
can someone confirm?

Do you have a printer connected to your computer?? Don't ask me how this is, but I encountered a situation where the same issue was happening and I unplugged the printer from my usb hub...

Use balanced shielded cabels and you'll get rid of most noises. Balanced cabels have 3 wires, and usally use XLR connectors. If you can't use balanced at least use shielded that will protect you from the electromagnetic waves. Another thing is to use the shortest cables you can, so they will pick up less noise. |
