I have really started to obsess with glow in the dark mosaics and want to show them off to my far away friends that can't see them in person (and maybe sell some ) but can't seem to take good pictures of them. They use glow glass, fluoro paint under glass, glow acrylic plastic, ok anything that glows or shines in black light I love

I have a sony cybershot dsc-w50, is it a matter of just having a crappy camera? Should I make some kinda lightbox? Stronger blacklights to make it brighter glow? Any tips appreciated!

Thanks!

Strong blacklights, a tripod, and a timer on the camera so you don't jiggle it when you click the picture. Even crappy cameras should work under those conditions

And Hi Jeff--- I never knew this was you until I saw your icon haha           Punch You In The Eye

Make sure the camera standing steady (tripod is essential, or tall steady object such bar, staircase, will do the job). I like using door frame as my support. Make sure your flash is OFF, and open the exposure for about one second or less. (some camera call it LT, not sure what is that term for). You might need to open longer exposure if the place really dark up to 2 seconds, you can experiment couple shots with different lengths. When using tripod, try to use timer, so that your finger/shutter pressure doesn't shake the camera while shooting. (Unless you have a very steady camera tripod, which is still hard for me to find even in the pro shop). Some camera has two timer length option, 2 seconds and 10 seconds. I use the two seconds before removing my finger from the shutter.

Oh when not using tripod, very important to keep the camera steady until the exposure time end which could be longer than three seconds plus two second timers. I like to wait about 5 seconds.

Best of luck Jeffz, let me know how that works.

Your camera is good enuf. see the real crappy one at http://blacksheephybrid.deviantart.com/art/green-pixels-IDea-56470559

nobody want to buy it even for $20 bucks, but she is very good to me

I have a tripod now, amazing how much of difference it makes and a 2 second delay does, wow, you guys really know your stuff - thanks so very much!

I have a long way to go with learning how to photgraphing, it is so not intuitive to me. Have to take a glass I guess.

Here is a new one using these tips. It is not my best work. I was SO excited to get my glow-in-the dark glass I had to make something random with it (could resist throwing some plastic stars in there too, I have a serious glow fetish). I am still very very excited about it and when I get more cash going to buy a lot to make something very neato!

Working with uranium glass right now and hope this technique works to capture it under a black light, because it soooooo beautiful. It makes me gasp for breath. I am such a materials ho
