Slum a.k.a PHI
SLUM, solo project by a Japanese trance scene's favorite, Shuji. He is a member of PHI who appeared on the scene meteorically last year, acted as their pleases and now are on indefinite break. He starts again carrying his own project SLUM with thirst and desire for music. His dynamic live performance, which you may be familiar at PHI's show, is filled with energy, or more than ever- he looks like a broken toy and is totally out of control. Also his uncompromising attitude for creating music must be leading Japanese trance music to major field. Emphasize bass lines and beats, he attacks listeners by endless refrains and gentle violence based on psychedelic trance. He also aims to break genre borders between trance, house, and techno. SLUM, having a possibility for great future of Japanese trance scene, must keep on evolving.
