Phat boy is cool, relly good box with good knobs .. but ...:-/
the prob with PhatBoy: the controllers are hardwired to a specific midi channel.so if you have a synth with hardwired controllers to - there's a good chance you won't be able to receive all the control messages from the phatboy.. alternatives: Doepfer: Drehbank, Pocket control www.doepfer.de/home_e.htm Ibk: 4controller, 10controller www.ibk-midi.de Waveidea: Midicontroller www.midicontroller.com Kenton Control Freak: www.kenton.co.uk Keyfax PhatBoy: www.keyfax.com/phatboy.html if i buy [and not build as i plan now :)] a midi controller, i'll go for the cheapest assigneable box. [if it's the phatboy - cool, i love the visual design] |

I paid for the Phatboy about 1100 nis (Ship + Meches INCLUDED) I ordered it from Yamaha UK, I knew it can be built, and I knew there are cheaper versions than the phatboy... but I didnt wanna take any wild bets so I went with the flow... Anyways, I'm just realizing its an INSTRUMENT... you can play your tweakings with a humanized sense, unlike using the mouse (and doing the live recording) -> this baby (and your magic touch) can actually build melodies from pattern-changing-frequencies and TONS AND LOADS of new ideas I didnt even think of before I bought it.
Life is good. Peace |

VAZ modular??? why VAZ when you got Fruity 3.11 ? 10000 millions of effects INCLUDING the new SCRATCHER(besides that: ts404,wasp,delay,reverb,plucked,simsynth,phaser -EVEN THE BPM !!!) , meaning you can tweak the "VINYL" using Analog knobs.... Vive-la-resistance, Vive-le-Phatboy. Vive-le-cheese.

why VAZ ... becasue it sound so phat and u can [bold]build[/bold]your own sound from scratch .... even some sub sonic bass - that's why :) it's not too bright but the sound is awsome.
and i think i've posted my opinion about the sound of Fruipy Loots instruments. they do sound like fruits that somebody made juice of ... no hard feelings. [hell i hate to be nasty] BOM |

And Bilbo, i have created really good sounds in fruity (although not the greatest), but the interface is great. |
