Vanguard is good for sharp leads. Just about every preset there - just play a bit with the filters.

A bit of distortion can do wonders...

Also turn up the resonance, as it can help give a lead 'bite'.

A slight distortion, some chorus and a light phaser should fatten it up. But be careful with the chorus ...

Also try using the Pentagon. I got a pretty absolum sounding lead stab out of that one...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

use harmonical multinotch-eqing and be wise with reverbrooms and compression, its all in this forum allready... just search a little bit.
also realy short dealy (ghostdealy) is able to fatten up it.

sorry.

harmonic Eq: boost frequences which has multiple frequences. this means if you boosted 100 allready boost 1K also. If you got 400 Hz multiplie with 2 and you have 800 Hz (primitive example, theirs a list in this forum which note has which freqs). The Effect is that the frequences dont phase much with each other and the whole sound has a clear note. sounds magic imo.

I also use distortation for the sharp edge on the z3ta+ synth, or use its build in lofi effects.
