Well, I've discovered his music not so long ago and must admit I've fallen in love with it .
So touching, genuine, dark, mellow --
much more than words can describe.
For those who haven't heard I recommend listening to his works, for those who did -- what do you reckon?

cheers.

So heartwarming to read a positive topic about Pete Namlook. He's been my grand man in ambient for many years, the one who got me hooked in ethereal soundscapes of ambient music and undefinable feelings in provokes in mid 90's when I was only 15 or 16.

His first big thing for me was a track called 'Garden of Dreams' by Namlook & Dr. Atmo under the name Silence (It's still my alltime favourite, the track I want to be played after my death in memorial if there's ever gonna be one). It happened when I was 16. It was a cloudy winter day in the countryside in Finland, snow everywhere. I was listening the track through headphones and walking on a frozen sea when it gently started to snow and everything went white. I was standing on a snow-covered ice and everywhere I looked I saw only whiteness. Snowflakes were quietly dropping on me. I had never felt like that before. Everything was so peaceful, so serene, like there would be no time anymore and no real space either. It felt so pure! I remember I was silently crying because of all the beauty I felt. That experience was definitely a turning point in my life.

So if you want to hear the essence of Namlook's music, I recommend this first Silence album. It was the first real ambient cd he released through his own label (and he was forced to found it because nobody else wanted to release this kind of music). He has said that it finally made his ambient dreams come true.

For more Namlook see official site www.hyperreal.org/fax or unofficial (but heavily supported) review/discussion site www.2350.org

My favourites from the 325 productions he's released so far:
Silence 1-2 (with Dr. Atmo)
Air 1-2 (solo)
Psychonavigation 1 (with Bill Laswell)
From Within 1-3 (with Richie Hawtin)
The Dark Side of the Moog 9 (with Klaus Schulze)
Virtual Vices 1-4 (with Spyra)
Move D/Namlook 1-7, especially A Day in the Live and Wired (with David Moufang)
Koolfang 1-2 (with David Moufang)
Shades of Orion 1-3 (with Tetsu Inoue)
S.H.A.D.O. 1-2 (with Bobby Bird (Higher Intelligence Agency))
Fires of Ork 2 (with Geir Jenssen (Biosphere))
62 Eulengasse (with Tetsu Inoue)
2350 Broadway 3 (with Tetsu Inoue)
Namlook 6,7,9,11,12 (live performances)

Sorry for the long post. I just got over-excited
