I didn't mean to drop into this thread and get all righteous.... I just like to see my fellow chillers chilling instead of grilling, know whuddi mean? Let's not let this go to the dogs like the trance scene.

Oh and yes, BUY your music.

DJ's who I know work extra hard to work out a great track selection along with exceptional mixing (beat, frequency and/or pitch) before they play a gig are many times being overlooked and treated the same as people who aren't doing anything up there but playing back some tunes. To me "showing off" means the DJ has taken the time to hone the craft of mixing either beat, or pitch, or both, is continuously building a solid collection of delectable tunes, knows their music well enough to mix on the fly and by doing so is EARNING their money at a paying gig.

I judge my performances by the smiles on the faces of the people in the audience.

Nothing more.

Smiles on peoples faces at a party doesn't necessarily mean it's from the music, but one can hope.

Anyway, when is the next OTT album due??? I prefer listening to music at home.

Well - I tend to work a set out before I play at a gig - I know a lot of people will be like then you are not going with the ebnergy of the place etc etc - but it think it needs to be done in order to have some sort of fluidity to your set. Chill out sets are much harder to play the fullon - and ofcourse my judge of a good chillout set is to see chilled out the people listening to it look - if they are quietly chatting and or simply floating in their minds you can tell - its all about reading body language. Ofcourse it helps if people come and tell you that you are dong a good job hehehehehehe

There's a few people asleep in that photo, but is that a bad thing for a chillout DJ?

Last month I was playing at sunrise and I had a fair number of people asleep during my set. But then when the next DJ started his first tune, many of them woke up, had a stretch and wandered off. I took it as a compliment that I didn't disturb their rest.           www.BarakaRecords.com/brij.htm
