+1 for tube distortion on the kick and bass subgroup, although never say never... just 'almost never'. Tube compression though can help to gel the sounds if you only use just a little bit, like 3dB on blue Antares tube. I don't use it myself, I get my kick and bass warmth from a Focusrite Compounder

I had to sell my compounder several months back-well gutted..
It has the bass boost on there don't it.
Basicly I spent sum time producin and tuning,Eqing to perfection then on the main channel I put a tube on there...and wow

i was thinking one or the other plugin, but these are subtle ,depends how far you want to go, just for a bit of warming these plugs are good ,i would use these on the drum bus or even all tracks to simulate analog summing, check this one too http://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/2009/04/29/the-magic-is-where-the-transient-happens/ |

Zork mate I forgot about the inflator, yeh it iz dam good.. I'm also now a fan of the sonic maximizer. Velocity is cruicial I have about 5 different mods for velocity to volume each one tweaked slightly differently to get nice psy warping with sum destortion sounds juicy
