I find it too time consuming and complicated to do complex percussion sequences in the Cubase sequencer, I need some kind of VSTi but I am not sure which I want.
I have tried the Groove agent and Battery, and I kind of lean toward Battery but I am not totally convinced. What do you guys recommend? |

why aren't you totally convinced with battery?
i find its one of the best as far as drums and percs go for writing in midi. imho.
for the most part i do my main drums in audio. then anything uber complex i do in midi using battery.
not that groove agent isn't capable its just a bit bulky after coming from ableton.
EDIT: almost forgot to mention to you this little gem. http://www.izotope.com/products/audio/idrum/
havn't used it myself heard good things though! http://soundcloud.com/brentmalik |

Reason I am not totally convinced is that I am simply guessing there are other stuff on the market that might do the trick aswell and might offer more bang for the buck/ cpu or whatever.
I am really not that picky, it is just that I used to be a percussionist aswell as a computer programmer so I guess my motifs shows up in a bad manner . |

NI Maschine is my main sampler/beat sequencer nowdays.
You can get it without the controller, although I do recommend the controller that comes with it.
Peace out.

Aghh... bloody drum samplers! I love the flexibility of using straight-up audio samples for ease of use in terms of chopping up, reversing, fade-ins and fade-outs; all sorts, really. Just wish it was as fast writing in audio as it is MIDI! Made some good patterns writing in MIDI but it tends to sound so flat and lifeless compared to writing in audio by doing the stuff I said above...
I must admit, though: I do love being able to randomise velocity so easily using drum samplers. That's probably my biggest gripe about using audio samples in the sequencer. |
