Most often I'll apply bit crushing on my entire percussion group (hats, rims, claps, snares, etc), but not the bass or kick. I tend to go easy on it as too much will turn the recipient of it in to noise. Usually I have a mix of 15-25%.
Bitcrushing can help percussion blend together by making it sound 'dirty'. Sometimes though I'll apply it heavily to just one percussive instrument, like the snare or something, to get a real crunchy sound.
