I was wondering if anyone could recommend some nice percussion sample CD's, not just one shot samples but loops as well.
I remember someone mentioning Thomas penton here does anyone know any other good one's?

It doesn't have any loops, but I recommend Dorumalaia's Superdrums 8000; it is very good and cheap. I bought the Penton pack too, but it's not as good; it's far smaller and there are more bad samples in it, though it's not bad either. And there aren't that many loops in it. I have Doru's ethno pack too, and though I haven't had time to dig into it much yet, but it seems to be good too.
In contrast, Akai's Dance Mega Drums 2 and Vengeance's collection have lots of bad samples and not worth the money.
I recommend the Superdrums. |

indeed for 24 euro superdrums 8000 is better than vengeance club, house and penton packs |

alrighty sorry i took long to ANSWER back but i had some technical difficulties BOOM
well anyways two that i like are PERCUSSIONISM and the other is called
percussive adventure... heres the scoop percussive adventure is more film oriented but got some real fresh sounds that'll make ur productions tight... u got single samples which u can use as is or tweak to ur taste and some loops the loops are cool but they're aimed more at film buttttt you can sample pieces or chop em up and you can get some nasty results TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.. PERCUSSIONISM is good as well as i found in this collection various sounds that are hard to find else where for example one of my favorite the BERIMBAU try finding that brazilian instrument if you don't how it sounds watch the movie "only the strong" well that sound alone is worth the bucks...
i think you should get away from the typical trance and house/teckno sample cd's for they are played out and i find em a bit cheesy
get the film, and perhaps some latin sample cd's they usually have awesome congas and the likes...of that genre the secret is to get the sample cd u think you'll dislike in other words the one that says perhaps ghetto drums just cause it says ghetto don't knock it out for theres samples in there that kick ass you problably wouldn't try em cus they say ghetto or rap and your producing psy??? right! well the truth is try em,, i've gotten some real nice drum samples from rnb sample cd's, i've processed them and walla a killer new sound that was meant for hip hop now twisted into psy mania...
take different approaches to ur music and you'll be rewarded with gems.. peace any other question bout the above titles holla back!! happy tweakings |
