My Personal Reasons:

I prefer to dance alone rather than dance with somebody, specially psytrance parties and festivals are the only places where I feel really free and like myself.

I like to look at Dj cuz he's the one playing so he's the one entertaining me the most.

I usually attend the set of those dj's (artists) whom I like their music, as a result I feel I like them for providing me with good music, so I like to look at someone whose giving me good music and I can see him maybe once a year in a festival or big party.

If he's hot and Im high, I'll enjoy even more looking at him

If the weather is hot and he's naked with a tanned body, well then I can't take my eyes off of him as long as he's standing up there

At Psysnoopy.
But aren't You missing the point? First of all feel free to be Yourself all the time in Your life. Psy parties should encourage You for that. And also isnt the whole point is to spend time with other people and not the DJ?
Also I bet You there are bunch of other hot guys on the dance floor.... wink wink

best thing on fests imho and what i enjoy best when not dancing
is to look a little above peoples heads and watch at the wave all these people produce, up-down-left-right-forward-backward body move'n'shake , you know, just hold the hole image as an observer, catch the vibe and of course dance & enjoy with music as long you like or love it

Hmmmm ,, I look at the Dj coz the Vibrations are coming from the Speakers which are Placed in such a Manner that Dj is Standing in Between & he/she is responsible for creating those Stunning Vibrations , rythms , Up's & Down's ,, However i Enjoy the Most watching "Neuro Motor " what a Performer ....

generally theres a stack of speakers next to the dj and thats wr the sound comes from so people face that side and dance , also if theres a bit of a performer then its nice to watch artist do his thing , this is not a live or fake debate but i like to see the artists style on stage , and so do a lot of people , love to see psykovsky doing his thing for example

I would like to make the experiment of an Anonymus dj in a big party. One with a his face covered.

It will be very interesting to see the crowd reaction.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

I like to gather dancetrance energy with other trippers when freedancing outside with the heavens above which is a super beautiful event and feeling, a connected bliss. I like to dance outside the crowded dancing crowd for that extra freedom feeling of universal space for dancing. I like to stomp my leg and relax while watching how the party energy is going (smiles and joy) and to see how the DJ is performing. I like to face the speakers, sometimes the DJ (alter) is in the way, but thats Ok. I like to show my gratitude to a brilliant DJ that amazes me with music and/or tricks with a glimt of eye contact, a nod or bow, a pOwer dance in the DJ's honor or a simple, AMEN!! So really, just dance in all directions and have a blast. Fuck all rest.

It is just seems that now when 95% of the crowd is facing the DJ it seems like any other music show that You go to see. Whether at a party where the crowd dances with each other and enjoying the feel of dancing together as a tribe had a special meaning to it.
When I see a party where everybody dances with the DJ the communal feeling disappears a bit, Your thoughts?

That communal feeling ... what is also known as "existential communitas" is something that we as humans can experience at any time without drugs and without music...

The circumstances we place ourselves in at parties, makes that - already present- feeling of social unity enhanced. Your experience of the existential communitas is soley shaped by your subjective experience... I mean just as we have the feeling that we are having a group experience, in reality this is formed by a network of unique subjective experiences that are functioning in relation to each other.. sorta like individual cogs within a greater piece of machinery.

If an individual has lost this sense of communitas then really the question is how has that individuals subjective experience changed to disengage themself from this group experience...

The answer lies in YOU, your beliefs, your attitudes... your sensitivity to your surroundings etc etc. If you are giving power to the people around you ( and the DJ and the music and your drugs) to shape your experience in such a way then maybe it is a chance to look at yourself and the way you function within the trance state and unlock these areas of your experience where you feel you are reliant on other people to experience a sense of communal vibe.

A really good book about this is:

The Ritual Process: Structure and Anti-Structure. By Victor Turner.
