Space Cadet - Nikita Tselovalnikov
Home Planet - Azores Islands
Mission - Portugese Abduction
Mission 2 - Search and Destroy All Pretenders
WMD -
1. Vegetarian Ballad
2. BBQ
3. Time Jump
4. Andes
5. Men Dozed
6. Piscotech
7. No More Evil
8. Magic Balls
9. Neo Cheesy
Well yes... He is the person america should be really looking for, as the true weapons of mass destruction have been carefully manufactured in NikitaŽs Lab. These 9 Highly Powered Hypnotic Stories that were meant to abduct the crazy portugese society overran its own system that built it... only to go ahead and abduct country by country... planet by planet... galaxy by galaxy... universe by universe...
I am not going to give this a track by track review as its not my style, though I am sure someone will soon as this album deserves all that the scene can give back to it.
Penta doesnt waste anytime to start his story... VEGETARIAN BALLAD is personally one of the best tracks in the album with a motherfunker of a bassline and very very hypnotic juicy leads and sounds that follow.
Next is BBQ... which does EXACTLY what it says, mind you the exactly is with caps lock ON, youŽll know what i mean when you hit track 2, I specially love the way it comes back in the second half of the track. TIME JUMP has good samples and ANDES has a ground digging nuclear powered bassline that is going to lead you from your tent to the dancefloor at festivals all year round. PISCOTECH, NO MORE EVIL and NEO CHEESY are the my other personal favourites.
I also love the album design. Its simple, very creative and fits perfect in the concept. I even love the fonts and color combo they have used.
This album deserves to go platinum. I am not sure if the modŽs will allow me to give an album a 500/100 score, so inorder to not get kicked out of the forum i shall behave myself and give it a 50/10
On a serious note though. I think this album has been made with utmost love (dedicated to his wife), maturity and a solid sense of direction and focus to the sounds he wished to give us all.
Nikita takes his music passion to another level as the sounds, the flow of the entire album and seriousness and individuality of each track fits in perfectly with the entire concept and mission - Portugese Abduction.
This album does not fit in any sub-genre... it only comes under one title and one title only - Psychedelica!
I, with all my love and passion for the psychedelic culture `highly` recommend this album for each and every individual who has been searching for that moment of ultimate bliss over the years like the way you felt the first time you ever connected and understood a psychedelic story.
Yes. There is a God... and Penta is his UFO
Conclusion - All that breathes is Abducted.
I congratulate Nikita on his project... and wish him the very best for his album tour that will cause mayhem across the globe.
As for the pretenders... after listenin to this CD... I feel like selling half my cd case which is filled with them. Honestly... Garage Sale soon.

| i must say im quite disappointed with this album. production is at very high level but it will never reach creative quality of 'pentafiles'... |
|
hmm - that's like saying that no play is better than Hamlet. true, but also redundant.
i personally was very impressed by the creative work here. haven't listened to it enough, but appears that this is Nikita's best work since Pentafiles. it didn't seem nearly as dark as the previous one, either.
will get back with a more thorough opinion later.

Agreed. This has been in my player almost non-stop since I got it. "Horn Please" took a while to grow on me (I love it now), but this one grabbed me from the get-go. I think part of why people are disappointed is that the first three albums were all groundbreaking and each one very different than the one before it, while this one is not as much of a leap forward stylistically from Horn Please. It almost sounds like it could have been a double album with Horn Please. Although yes, maybe not quite as dark and a bit slower on average too.
I like nearly every second of the album, and there's very few albums I can say that about, except for track 6 Piscotech at 4:15 when that little melody comes in...it sounds like a child banging on a little toy piano...normally I like the crazy weird melodies in Penta tracks, but this one I can't get over. The track rocks other than that. The other one I'm not that big on is the break in Neo Cheesy - definitely good for a laugh the first time you hear it though!
This is a super heady, galloping, psychedelic album, solid all the way through. Highly recommended. |
