I really like penta's basslines, especially the main one in vegetarian ballad and was just wondering if anyone knew what he uses? Ive been using alien, cronox 2 and just started using filterscape and got some really good stuff but just cant get that driving sound Im looking for. Im sure if I stick with these ill eventually get what Im looking for its just frustrating right now! Any help?

alien303 is good for noobs... cronox is much more serious shit if you know how to synthesize tight envelope bass sound.

Now the sound you are looking for is low octave with some cutoff and a not so closed filter decay so it remains crunchy and kinda raw, play a lot with envelopes and env mod or filter depth whatever is called down your synth and get to know them like your gf titties then you will be able to get bass like this much more easily.

Cheers.

IMHO

1)alien 303 is so easy and quick to achieve "sounds like" bass

2)to obtain the best from that toy, bass notes should be sampled and polished with eq and maybe compression, gating, limiting... IDK really but when i am sketching something alien303 do the job honestly           http://soundcloud.com/alphadelphi

PsyNina

Alien 303: I was finishing my last track for my upcoming album "Sexy Secret" when this plugin arrived, so I gave this new plugin a try and worked with it several days. Finally I have to say Alien 303 was a good choice and is a really great plugin. I tried several things with it like tweaking monstrous and weired acid tones out of it or building acid-lead sequences and it worked perfectly. I love the handling with this tool. To be honest, the Alien 303 has a good basement for creating basslines and gives the chances to new talents to create wonderful music but I see Alien 303 more as an acid-tone-monster :-D Try it and enjoy it. It is wonderful.
