Im very disappointed with this new sound that PJ is trying to cultivate.. i mean, do fans really want this or does the band? Their last 2-3 albums have really made no difference to my collection... i dont even remember the last time i heard one of them! Backspacer just adds to a dying band.. though they will always be my favorite band for giving me some great musical experiences, i must admit that i doubt the have the magic they had all those years with ten, vs, vitology etc. i guess the rage is what made them, and with that gone, i would look at them as just another alternative band that i can sing along with in some of their songs!

I guess they're taking a more "light" and "worry-free" approach to their life and that reflects on the music they make. It's like as they grow older their albums become more "pop", easier to digest. It all started around the time they made no code and got way worse with yield - possibly their worst album till now. Like you said, the magic is gone, but that's the way it goes i guess...
That said, i don't think backspacer is a bad album. I was let down when i first listened to it but i gave it another shot and now it's been playing a lot on my car. Tracks like force of nature, fixer, amongst the waves ain't bad at all.

I somewhat agree with you man, my post came from mixed emotions of frustration and disappointment, but i guess thats what happens to most other bands.. they dont really sll out, but maybe years and years of guitar smashing does take its toll afterall 
and i cant say iv been enjoying this new cd, though il wait on it to grow on me.. il give it a few more listens.

They still make albums?
Like Billy corgan once said: 90's band can only make 3 good albums and its over.
