So yeah my pc turns off and doesn't want to turn on sometimes, sometimes when it turns on i play music and its glitching the music with windows media player, the pc might be disconnected for a day and when i try he doesnt turn on or it does and it stays on for a while and disconnects, he also freezes sometimes... today it turned off about 7 times and i gave up, this is a:

2x 1GB ram pc2-5300u 667mhz non ecc unbuffered buffalo select
windows xp pro x86 sp3
m audio 2496 pci soundcard
250GB maxtor STM3250310AS
atx 450w
msi ms7255 motherboard
processor x86 family 15 model6 3000mhz
bios american megatrends v5.1 04/04/2007
DVD Rom ESA H50L
Via Chrome 9HC IGP graphic card

This pc beeps in the beginning and what i found on the net is that its something to do with the RAM its 2 short beeps and one long but sometimes it changes the beeps.. So im quite lost...
Also it turns off when i do simple stuff such as checking the hard drives.

Hello,

i think the ram might be the problem,
Take the ram out of the 2nd slot and try again.
if it not helps, take it out and put the second one in the primary slot.

keep an eye for the old parite32b (or c) virus

it infects all exe's. programs, setups etc.
then when 2 exe's are running at the same time, it causes the pc to reboot. sometime later the on/off's will burn some hardware.

maybe in your case it's a ram chip.           extreme

What i would do is:
Remove the hard disk, plug it in another pc and scan for virus/malware (preferably using mbam). Then unplug everything from the mobo (including stuff like dvd drives - front usb/audio cables) and put a new set of ram dimms (borrow them from a friend) and the hard drive. See if it works. If not, my guess is it's a mobo or psu problem or something much weirder like graphics card (?) or some short circuit between your motherboard and the pc case (?).
Hope you clear this mess.
Cheers!            Peace, Love, Death metal

So after about 6 hours of trying to fix this mother******* and doing loads of experiments i now will perform a memtest and if the memory is good most definitely its the mother****** PSU. in another site peeps say that the one i got is quite shite so.....

Not sure if this psu has enough power... And because of things that happened in the past i presume its the PSU, i mean i had some lights working on the case and they started not working one by one too so.....

I did reset the bios.

Oxya dude, virus aren't doing this....

And yeah i did get my ableton files last night...           Visit me

Is the PSU quite old? Apparently they can tend to lose power after a few years.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

will work .. remove the cmos battery turn on the comp .. shut the comp off put it back again ..turn on the comp.. and then reset ur time and date settings after u do that.. worked for me when i was using a old mobo and a accelerated graphic port like u do when i had the similar problem like u... now i am on amd phenom 965 quad @ 3.4 ghz
well a virus wont destroy ur hardware components .. it can only over clock ur memroy cpu or hdd... and that does nt cause any harm.. so dont worry ... but its smart to make a back up of ur imp files           0x00000PSy

Check your fans mate, I had the same beep then restart problem, unlike other problems mine was graphics card fan, which wasn't working at all. But may be other issue aswell, like RAM(take em out and clean up with white clean paper) , Power Supply's fan/power problems, Hard Disk corrupted sectors etc...

I had the same problem with my old pc...twice.

First the gfx card was heating too much - when i tried to take her off the motherboard the fan just fell on the ground, lol x_X

Second time the fan of the processor was busted and the processor was overheating.           Triplag Music

ummhmm....bad idea...... unless you usually put out fires with gasoline.

Don´t touch the components unless your using ESD-wristband and don´t wipe your ram with paper cause they are considered unreliable material if you live in dry areas.          Demand recognition for the Armenian genocide 1915
