for sure,
a good water cooling kit would be a good solution, but beware cauz there are lots of kits around that are made to make 0 noise and not to chill out your CPU, so buy sumthing good, with wide tubes, a good pure copper cpu block and a powerfull water pump.

Also check if you have something like "COP" activated, as this will automatically shut down your PC if the given component exceeds its given working temperature.
Megalopsy, many ppl think the waterpump is very essential for a good watercooling setup. Actually, its not. Use the money and go for a bigger radiator instead, and go for Eheim 1046/1048(I own this myself) and a good block (I use the RBX from DangerDen, prolly one of the best that can be bought).
Cheers! |

Also check out if cpuidle helps you when you dont use all cpu.. Althought this hears like you dont have heatsink and thermal compound fitted right.
http://www.cpuidle.de
Helped my Duron 1.6GHz (overclocked @ 2GHz) stay 35C idle and 44C with load..

one more word of advice on this one: when your pc starts overheating, do check if the cpu cooler is in place, make sure you put the arctic cooling paste on the cpu (this will make a difference of 10 degrees celsius), the temperature should remain pretty stable at all times (as megalopsy said). when playing a game or so, it can go up a bit, but imo not so much when working in cubase. the automatic rebooting can be turned off here: rightclick my computer, go to properties - advanced - startup and recovery settings - systemfailure - tick automatically restart OFF
also i had the honour and fun to work with these guys some time ago, they make silent computers, and when i say silent i mean silent, its amazing what these guys can do with a little bit of modding, its getting quite big here in holland now and my next pc (provided i have enough money) will come from their stable.. check this : http://www.ikbenstil.nl
ok, the site is in dutch, but you will get the basic idea, also good for ordering items if you are into silent (and better working pc's)

open it and hoover , dust is such a bitch , also , problem could be with ur smps , use a compressed air blast to clean it or get it serviced from somewhere .. also dont forget to turn off the ups at times when u are not using the computer coz many people dont know but the motherboard keeps running when the pc is shut if the ups is on ..
hope this helps ,,

A non-overclocked Intel chip "should" not overheat unless you live in a VERY hot place and/or constantly drive the system to the max. I would say there's something wrong with the way your system was put togethger...or some faulty hardware but could be as simple as a missing thermal pad on top of your CPU.
Having it checked under warranty is indeed the best thing to do.
After you system is running smooth again you might consider other means of cooling like the ones already suggested here. Good cooling is indeed something worth investing in. It can make your computer live longer and keep it stable.
But if you're not so technically skilled and know little about computers I would recommend finding someone who does to do the job for you. Even replacing a CPU heatsink/fan can be "dangerous" for non-experienced people. You may end up damaging your MB or CPU.
