hi ,"Both platforms can be stable. Both can be nightmares in certain circumstances. A lot of factors are involved in that (in)stability.

Why are you "REALLY" ready to drop the PC?"

i am not.
but it's interesting thing: Mac users are more calm in nature.
i thought maybe there is some logic behind paying
for a Mac box : maybe it doesn't crash, maybe it crashes nicely, but win users do have this "blue screen" syndrom [eye twitch, or other tick :)]
while macusers are really calm, and rely on the computer.

another thing - maybe some system details make MacOS a better platform for Audio DSP/Mixing/Mastering, and i don't know anything about it .... thought somebody knows its structure or link to it [process queue structure, virtual memory management, deadlock policies and other "technical bullshit"].

P.S.
i had a little bit experience with mac [www/mail/ftp/news etc.] and it was stable as hell.

"this is how i sum it up: when a mac starts getting buggy, there are several very easy steps to take which usually work. if not, it takes about 15-60 minutes(depending on software) to entirely recreate a brand-new system.
when a pc starts acting up, there also steps to take, but taking them will oftentimes screw up other system files. to entirely recreate the system- YIKES!
in short and general, mac problems=no problems, pc problems=HELL! if you are a computer programer or there abouts, perhaps you'd beg to differ. "
