pc/mac? ram?

Hi, I'm planning to buy a new PC and thinking how much RAM i need. Is 1GB enough or do I need more? or you recommend i should get a mac instead? I have never used mac but i heard it is better for multimedia.

Go for the highest you can afford with minimum 2 GB Ram.
At this point both PC and Mac are very poweful. It's just matter of GUI taste.
If you go PC, make sure there are high quality components in it. Don't go cheap.

macs are nice machines to work on but they are much more limited in many thingz this is where pcs rule!
2g of ram is the best choice and if going for a pc like allready said its necessary to equip it with the best u can afford !
iff u want to use logic tho macs are a one way road!

thanks for answers, well i won't buy a super-expensive PC cause I can't afford it, so 2GB ram will be maximum probably  hm also thinking buying m-audio audiophile 24/96 but dunno, any recommendations? I guess i should go and read 'the mother of all soundcard' thread |

Wow,
I think it's pretty cool, that someone can ask a question like this and there is no "mac-pc-war" going on here.
If money is an issue, mac is certainly no idea today, since a computer with (now) exactly the same hardware is certainly cheaper in the PC world.
But you could also go to the mac website and watch the "I'm a mac - I'm a PC" spots.
After that you will be brainwashed and buy a mac, and do not have to worry about choices anymore 
There is less free and aahmm "free" software for mac...
I personally don't like M-audio interfaces (mid controllers yes). At this time I find emu-202 quite good sounding solution for small price.
