Hello i have noticed that in my pc (Windows XP) i have some folders that i can't delete it keeps saying that the folder is being used by a person or program. I have two folders behaving like that, one of those folders is an old windows instalation. I have tried to access them via the Administrator and safe modes but nothing. Does anyone have a clue about what to do?

Can you still not delete them once you've restarted the machine? This happens to me sometimes and I find that killing Explorer in the Task Manager and restarting it (from the Run command in the File menu of Task Manager) lets me delete the folder.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

Here is a free utility for solving such problems - it integrates into your right-button menu so you just click unlock on a target file ore folder and you got it.

start-run-type cmd
locate the folder or files you want to delete in dos mode
before you execute del c:\temp\*.* (for example) close explorer.exe in your task manager. execute the delete command and restart explorer exe with start-run-type explorer.exe

hope that helps

WHAAAATT?

You are ALL WAY OFF!!

Go START....RUN....type MSCONFIG...hit ENTER.

A box appears with a coupla tabs.

The last one being startup.

This is INVALUBLE guys.

Specially if you on the net and MIGHT have spyware and shit.

It lists the programs in your startup....and tells you where and what it is....well...u can tell from the folder names!

Then you have click boxes on your left where you can activate or DEactivate.

So go crazy....if something does not work that u need....just enable again.

I only have 4 things enabled....out of about 30.

These will be the files loaded up into your virtual memory that u can't delete as its in your ....STARTUP....and runs automatically.

Win2000 does not have this MSCONFIG.           Beartrap - SA
