I am an amatuer DJ using the following equipment:
Denon Dn- 6000 dual cd players, Denon X-300 mixer & Technics RP-DH1200 headphones.
I wanted to try laptop djing using the PC DJ DAC-3 Hardware controller which has an interface like a dual cd player which controls the software.

I haven't tried that controller, but one thing that strikes me is the lack of knobs.
Right now it's the filters you would like to control with knobs but you might want to use Abelton or maybe Traktor gets VST support in the future.
To me the design looks very limiting in that respect.
I haven't seen any specialized DJ controller though that have enough knobs and preferably pads to trigger loops and fx like I do in Abelton, so for me a controller keyboard with a set of knobs is still my prefered solution.
But of course you will have to familiarize yourself with a very different control surface, so the transfer from CD DJing will not be as immediate.
