Where to start reviewing a party sponsored by AEROFLOT!!! I almost fell from my feet when I saw their logo on the ticket!!! Un fucking real!!!

Firstly, thanks to Cyrus and his mates for putting this one together! I hope the response will suffice for motivating future organisers to pull something of this caliber… Count on me for support!!

Secondly, the music… Interesting, definitely full on but at times too much for a confined indoor space… My friend agreed to this notion that it was tough to digest all of it indoors without a beach, forest, or mountain to gaze at… I personally prefer the trippier, more melodic, full on exemplified by the brilliance of the last tune…. It absolutely blew my mind!!! That little melody continues to haunt my mind daily!!! Anyone id’d it yet???

The mixing… Even though the mixing was basic, the beat matching was flawless… no noticeable cancellation of bass drums on the low frequencies, but sometimes it got a bit hectic on the mids and highs, particularly in the earlier to mid stages of the mix… towards the end, as the elements fade from the outgoing track, the fresh one entered unscrambled… He did seemed annoyed at his right hand CD player for some reason I could not decipher… and personally, I have no idea what he was using that kind of equipment… certainly better equipment could have been secured at a similar or lower price… Additionally, some creativity and riskier moves would have been very welcome!!

The sound… was coming from 4 sets of speakers. 1. PT’s monitor to his lower right (barely audible) 2. a row of about 4-5 speakers on the top of the dance floor. 3. Substantial subwoofers on either side of the dance floor. 4. other single speakers scattered around the back of the club.. All in all it was definitely very very loud… Perhaps a bit too loud for my taste… but excellent quality… The acoustics are of course nothing special, which is why there were (thankfully) some pockets where either the bass was not present or the mids/highs were lacking, particularly around the front on either side of the stage…

The deco consisted of a UV string design on the roof which was cool, and about 8 or 10 UV posters hung around the place… It was very appropriate except (I think) the Ohm records tapestry behind the DJ… just seen it too many times I guess… It was appropriately dark and a wonderful visual depart from the white efficiency light… At one point the back of the stage lit up with blue light around square tiles of mirrors.. I thought it looked wiked..but it appeared to be the result of three hookers flipping on the wrong switches backstage… they were rocking all night though!!! hookers hooked on trance!!!! Another part of the charm of this city….

The staff was cool… and one relatively cute waitress with long dark hair… you all know which one I’m talking about, because I did not see more than 10 girls the entire night!!! Its all good and good fun was had by all… the bouncers were retarded (as always) and at the end appeared to be making an effort to break up a fight, when all everyone was doing was cheering the DJ… who knows where these people come from!!

All in all, an excellent night.. easily, the cover charge could have been 50 bucks and im sure all would have paid… I would have HAPPILY!!! completely against the notion of guestlist in these kinds of parties.. sure, if you’re at peppermint with 1500 people, all spending an average of 100 dhs each not including the 50dhs cover, you can afford it…

I made the mistake of drinking this power horse shit (even though I ordered red bull)… I was wired like a cow tangled in an electric fence…. Seriously something wrong with that beverage… add to that the fact that I do not consume caffeine regularly… couldn’t sleep till like 5, and even then it was half sleep…

Thanks to all who made this happen and I look forward to the next chapter of trance in dubai! Anyone for a rain party in the desert?

Salaaaaaam!
