Well folks, this is my first review in Isratrance so please be gentle..
Paste "Blow Out" [Interzone Records]
1. Code Bed
2. Speedseed
3. The Flathead
4. Neurotrop
5. Minimeise
6. Hihatic BMX
7. Underdogs
8. Dozer
First I'd like to say that I absloutely love this album. It is in the usual minimal progressive slow builder style of Paste, but you can sense an evolution in their work when comparing with their various previous released tracks. They also give you a touch of Progressive House in the last two tracks. Highlights of the album for me are tracks 1 (Code Bed turned for me one of my alltime favourites, yes alltime!!!), 3, 4, (beautifull female voice in the start), 5 (pumping from begining to end) and 8 (finishing the album in a relaxing stylish progressive house way).
Bottom line: highly recommended for all progressive fans.

the different basslines in code bed are absolutely killer. especially that sick stereo panning one that comes in towards the end!
but the album...too many voice samples!! i love this minimal groovy sound with fat beats but what are all those annoying voice samples doing in there? everytime the music became hypnotizing, an annoying sample would break the spell. and the samples (annoying at just one time) repeat endlessly, sometimes dozens of times. i just can't understand what the point of the samples is. take out every single voice sample, and the album rocks. |

paste have unique style. or u like it or hate it.
i like it.
its very minimalistic, monotonic and still with progressive tunes. feels like industrial enviorment.
ok from what i heard
2. Speedseed
3. The Flathead
nice tracks. very "pasteish" style.

Good album.
Good minimal, as somebody said here, Paste have their unique style. Either you like it or not.
And I like it!
Favorites are 3 & 5.

I agree with most people here that the first track on the album, "Code Bed", is the best.
It reminds me of something that Saiko-Pod/Koxbox could have made. Really groovy and well produced.
I'm pretty disappointed with the rest of the album though, I especially dislike the last track.
I usually have nothing against house (and progressive house in particular), but this track doesn't work at all for me.
My rating:
5/10 for the entire album - 9/10 for track 1
