I've reckon from few tutorials and books
that producers use passive volume controllers before monitors.

I found couple ideas of it like speaker swap, extra devices (cds etc), stereo -> mono switch, headphones connectors, meters.

But what is the main task of passive volume speaker. There is percentage volume control what it's actions

AND What is the main reason to use passive volume control between monitors and soundcard

A passive volume controller simply attenuates the signal.

The reason for using them is that one should have control over volume in the analogue domain because if you lower the volume in the digital domain your DAs will not work at their full resolution.
And provided you have a DA interface with professional level output you should never need amplification in the analogue domain before it hits the speaker amps, hence a passive volume controller is optimal since less circuitry means it both sounds a bit better and costs a bit less.

Hey Spin..yes thats the point about it..

like if your session is running at 32 float or somethig and you lower the master fader to lower the volume you will have a smaller bit depth like 24 bit or something inbetween..

i use this oe actualy, cause i do not need so many in and outputs right now..
http://shop.digitalaudioservice.com//product_info.php/products_id/4602

works perfect..

thanks again m8s!

i'm planning to use atleast to different speakers and 1x headphones. passive hifi speakers and active near field monitors.

and of course it's nice to use CDJ players through it also and to listen commercial music besides own production

so i think that would be pretty good in this situation.

Do you know any ideas of "external spectrums"?

so i could send a signal from SPL to It to check EQ and stereofield?           ""

To be correct it's not possible for a DA to work in floating point so usually your bit depth at full scale is with most modern interfaces 24 bit...and that is already more bits than is needed to make full use of the dynamic range that the analogue circuitry is capable of.

But a lot of the time you only want a small fraction of the volume that the system is capable of...I can say that with my setup that if I didn't have analogue control over volume I would be listening to 8 bit sound most of the time since I rarely use more than a few percent of the available power.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

yer..this one would fit your setup, but please do not order from those f.... shop with T at the beginning..support spezialized smaller companies..

Thoman is like ...well i buy like 100000 units of that every year...than a lot of trade departments trust in this and give him good conditions...then after a while T... says no way i only buy 1000 units and evrything on the market gies strange..Thomann is a real bastard and a f... does only work for the purpose to clearance a lot people as possible with no personal aspect..

I don`t want to stress you in a certain way, but i would like to open the understatement on how the scene works in this case..

let Thomann sell his guitars and stuff but let the smaller more specialized deales deal with the real pro audio stuff like http://www.digitalaudioservice.de

we got a lot of the high end pro audio gear like telefunken mics and brent averill enterprise(neve) preamps ..charter oaks ..just to name a few..and you can be sure to get always the best price you can get elsewhere.at least in europe from us..and personal support..

just to make this clear..we are looking for people in other countries to make business with..to make high end gear affordable to all people..

so if someone would be interested in just pm me and we will make special deals on serious deals always..

cheers

Spindrift said it, 100%.

The mpatch 2 is pretty sweet for the price, otherwise Cranesong Avocet>Dangerous Music D Box>Presonus Central Station.

Central Station is cool too since you have the D/A and clock along with the monitor control and routing..           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?

naga, for all those options you can get a Coleman.
or a mixer, if you don't need a passive attenuation control.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

Thomann's service is great. It is better than most small shop's I've dealt with: Money back guarantee if you don't like the product. If something breaks they send you a new one no questions asked. If it fixes the problem, you send back the old unit. Shipment costs are very low. Good phone and email support (again better than most small shops).

I stopped going to small shops because the service level and knowledge was just not good enough to warrant the higher prices.
