HI FOLKS MY FRIEND WAS BACK FROM THAILAND FROM KOPANGAN ISLAND AND I MUST TELL YOU THAT THERE IS A BIG BIG UNDERGROUND TRANCE SCENE..........I HAVE IT ON CLIPS......IF YOU PLANNIG TO GO SOMEWHERE GO THERE!!!!!! |

i was in koh phangan last winter playing music and snorkelling every day so
just stop to talk about and GO!
u will enjoy thai people and culture
and visit ko tao too!!!really underground place!!1000 people only on this amazing island

OK Where is this underground sound? Do you mean there are parties playing underground trance (ie psy trance) or are their underground parties (ie not easily found) playing trance?
Where abouts are they, on the east coast on whatever deserted beaches are left, or on the main strip in Had Rin?
Any info appreciated.. |

There are lots of good psytrance parties on phangan. They are not well advertised, but you will find info around haad rin and thong sala. Paradise Waterfall, which is almost in the centre of the island has regular psytrance parties. It's a great venue. It's not a place you would find easily unless you know where you are going. Flyers are often handed out around haad rin and there are some signposts out and taxi shuttles from haad rin on the night. Also, Ban Tai, between haad rin and thong sala has psy parties on the beach there and also in the forest sometimes. There are also occaisional parties in more remote places like mae haad (north) and haad sadet (east). |

Might see you there then  If you will be there for new year then you should consider hopping accross the peninsula to Krabi (only 2 hours or so by aircon bus from Surat). The Greenspirit festival, which was cancelled this last new year due to the tsunami might be happening. If not, then I would still recommend a trip to Krabi. |

i've been in koh - phangan for 4 months in 2003 and i can say the trance scenen is not so underground but it is good and alive and i recomend it to all  |
