Hey all,
just curious if there are any parents on the forums who would like to share what their experiences have been like bringing kids to festivals. I'll throw out some questions for thought, but really I'd just like to hear any relevant comments from parents on isratrance.
How old were your kids when you first brought them to a festival?
Is it more/less fun to bring your kids?
If there is an area designated specifically for kids, how long do you usually leave them there for?
Have you ever had to explain to them why a particular person is acting so "weird?"
or why YOU are acting so "weird?"
were they able to tolerate 3 days in a row of trance music?

Do you protect their ears?
Do you make sure they get enough fluid?
Do you make sure they get a good nights sleep without disturbance?
As you can see I am against children at Festivals. I've just seen way too many cases of horrible neglect from parents bringing their children.

I will take them to a small party on the morning to midday at 11 or 12.

+1, but i wouldn't bring my daughter to a festival... Not yet.
I'm going to festivals to have fun with friends, not babysit.
I think it depends on how old your kids are as well, Im sure i would have other values in couple of years..
The festivals are the adults playground imho, and some people are having hard times looking after themselves.

I also think it can be a great expirience when arranged properly. But responsibility is the absolute highest then.

Very true...
you can bring your children to a festival as long as you accept that you're not going to have that much time for yourself...
Mt friends brought their children to Boom 2006, and they spent much more time in the camp site or swimming or by the chill-out than dancing...it was also fun...different but fun and way more relaxed

if you stay sober and take care of your child like a parent and not like a trance hippie.. and your child is over 4 years old cos ears stop develop after 4 years of age than why not.
if you want to just have fun on the dancefloor doing acid smoking joints and having the full "trance" experience.. leave your kid with your grandma..
im still on the thought of taking my 4 year old son to a festival though.. i dont feel these days its child friendly on most of the fests.

I don't believe forcing experiences on kids unless it is something meant for children such as theme parks, cartoons etc.
Some things are meant to be found and experienced and It hink musical choice is one of these, like art & design.
Sure my kids will grow up listening to my music from my collection, trance, ambient, drum n bass and heavy metal but I will let them find their own music choice, even if it is Lady Gaga.
If you cannot go to a gig without your kids then I just don't think you should go, or else find a decent babysitter or relative for the period of time and let them care for the kid.
I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy! |

^sure this is maybe even more the case but I know there are parents who are the most loviest in this world and their children are like in paradise not only but also because of such a wonderful expirience.Hard to describe.
NOrmally I would not recommend,I myself will do it,when time is right. For sure.If it is only to make sure to make the best possible I can imagine for them and this would be one of unlimited things which is full of love.Or it can be like this.I think you know what I mean.
I also saw the complete opposite..it is not for generalization .
Sure for me is when the children are really under 4 this is almost a crime.Otherwise it can be full of light and joy.
well then looking on the alco speed festies of today maybe I would go for it ten years ago.But this is my opinion about this issue. https://soundcloud.com/shivagarden |
