and a beautifull site too... Nice use of flash-animations and scripts, very well drawn too... Not always clear enough (i had to wave my mouse over the page to find the links ), but when u found the links it's easily navigated too....

oh yeah... i have a remark on his bass-section... He says that turning up the resonance will make ur sound thin, except on the MS-20... But what he forgot is that all analogue synths can turn up the resonance at low frequencies without losing power, my yamaha CS-10 and my JUNO-60 don't have any problem when turning up the resonance on low frequencies... On the contrary, u can get more sub out of the filter then out of the oscillators...

nice music by Unison!
I really liked the tracks

i wonder why progressive music is not more talked about than fullon.. can it be that progressive music needs more feeling and timing... a solid storyline?

progressive beats fullon

I have a Juno 60 as well. You'll get more sub IF the filter is closed, so the feedback frequency is as low as depicted by the cut-off. But if you want a bass sound that has more harmonics present (i.e. the LP filter is more open) and add resonance you will thin the bottom end out. Actually in most analog filters the output goes down. And since we are talking about the GMS type of bassline, you will need to get those even harmonics from the sawtooth waveform before the ADSR closes the filter at each trigger. So it's best to have little, or no resonance at all on the bass patch.

tnx a lot 14-year... but that never posed a problem for me... I put the envelope on the cutoff just enough so it gets those high frequencies first and then oomph's the tail. Best bass-source i have in my setup... ofcourse, i don't go too low on the cutoff... except when i make DnB, then i go mono and let it rumble and crackle great stuff...

i think the problem with resonance on bass is because it makes a more steep curve when filtering, letting less frequencies pass.

just look at the charts in your synth manuals in the filtering section.           roll a joint or STFU :)

Resonance is basically a feedback circuit. It simply boosts the cut-off frequency, to the point where the filter becomes a sine wave oscillator.
This is the case with most analog filters and is the case with only a few digital filters.
