Hi guys...ok here's d deal i had someone recommend me to pan d snare between 10 o clock & two o clock n to pan d hats wide...my current mixes almost everything is dead center hence when i export my final wav n open it up in sound forge d peaks r really high...
can someone give me advice on whether we're supposed to pan percussion or synths, guitars n stuff? also am i supposed to b taking unwanted frequencies off my percussion n synths to give some air to my mix? often when i have a couple of synths playing at once d sound gets a lil muddy..
here's wt i'm doing now...i run a high pass on my highhats around 600hz n snare n synths around 200hz...any tips on how to get more air into my mix? thanks           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

i always keep hats and snares centered, but i guess there are no real "rules". if your ear tells you it sounds better in the mix panned, then do it.

I think panning percussions give it a more stereo sound. Try it           https://www.djjeto.com

gee thanks dude, didn't u forget to say do a highpass on d bass around 800hz, to give it some nice punch

i know its always better to cut out frequencies then boost them...but i still can't get my head around balancing the high frequencies...
u know when u hear pro stuff it seems like everything belongs in its own space in d mix..especially d percussion..so am i supposed to b using a highpass on my synths to leave room for d percussion to stand out?           http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

"u know when u hear pro stuff it seems like everything belongs in its own space in d mix"

thats what its alot about, narrowing things down to their own space!
think about colors!

know what color your sound has!
musically its called timbres..

almost like, "ohh a djembe would fit with this guitar part"... or something like that!

the idea is that the colors wont drown eachother, they will interact...

bla bla bla

Panning hihats can make some crazy effects and rythms. I do it often, but i can't remember that i panned the whole snare line. Maybe i should try it later. If i pan hh, i pan mostyl not all the same, some left some right some in the mid.
Anyway just try if it sounds good, and it is good what sounds good            Signature
