i didnt exactly get this .... ---->>

"with the bass on one side and the kick on the other - hard left and right"

i know how to create a group trk ....
how to insert a waves comp-sc plugn
how to send the out of the bass channel to the gruop trk
how to send pre fader kik to gruop trk

but .... i dont get the PAN thing man.... pls help me on tht !@

and btw . these days i directly use the comp -sc plugin as insert on kik / bass chaneel , set the eq mode to sidechain and then use band reject filter and then accordingly adjust settings for the compression tht i need ...

so this method good enuff ??? or the sidechain method tht u know is better ???

Ok, to pan a send from an instrument or audio channel you need to go into that channel's aux sends routing mode. You do this by opening the channel editor and using the selection box to the left of the three buttons above the aux sends - the options are 'normal' and 'routing'.

Selecting 'routing' brings up a pan control for each send and you can use this to eg. send the kick drum to only one side of the compression group, while the direct output of the kick stays in the centre.

Hope this helps.

ok , so got this ,, that the kik has to be sent as a pre fader send to the group trk tht contains the com- sc plugin , with the pre fader send panned to the left ...

now , wat abt the bass ??? ...... direct out into the grp channel . with bass panned right ??

once again thanks a lot 4 ur valuable time n effort and i really appreciate it !

I gave some guidelines to setting up the compressor in my article so I won't repeat them here.

The best way to learn the art of compression is to experiment and determine for yourself the effect each control has on the sound. All the controls interact to change the dynamics in different ways and giving a complete explanation is very difficult... besides, "I could tell you and you'd know; you could find out for yourself, and then you'd know"!           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering
