Im trying to piece together some highlights from Boom main stage , including the session through sunday morning (the ast day) where Im pretty sure I heard the melody line from Paint it Black being sampled by several artists. It was pretty sensational - im sure i wasnt hallucinating it. I just wonder if anyone knows anything more about this, or confirm?

it's a rock classic not a bloody psy trance song. leave this alone. I hope the fuckers messing with it get their ass sued by Rolling Stones like The Verve did for sampling another Stones track illegally.

Yeah, I think the worst and most blasfemic "remix" is the Jefferson Airplanes White Rabbit by, hmm, Furious I think... Christ, the original is awesome, and this one sucks sooo much...

Fuzzion's remix is not so bad... but yes, if you can;t come up with your own music then maybe you should look at a new career instead of raping classics.

A.Rosengren's sig:

"The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources."

Ah yes, too true, too true.

It was a very subtle and finely treated variation of Paint it Black or a similar melody which was in my view exceptional and repeated by 2, maybe 3, performers - i wasnt hallucinating this, honest. More a very tight, long and powerful encounter between consenting adults than a "raping" of any classic. A masterful reinterpretation of a tune stored in our organic blackboxes and a fine illustration of the sampladelic foundations of electronic music production. Well done.
